I've decided to go out on a limb and buy a new axe, even though right now my budget doesnt really allow for it...
It's a 25.5quot; scale, 3 piece maple neck, alder body, and a floyd rose. Contruction is neck-thru, and the guitar already has coil-tapping switches.
I was looking for pickups to do 70s rock/80s metal. I was thinking super distortion even before i bought the guitar, but id really like some other opinions on it. I'd rather it had dimarzios, just based on the fact that you can get them in pink.
cheers guys
For 70's or 80's metal, it will be hard to beat the Dimarzio Super Distortion since about everyone and their mom was using it back then. It has my vote for 70's and 80's metal.
I would also go with the Super distortion for the Bridge. If it has a neck position humbucker... I would say PAF Pro may be a good option.
Rock On
Oh yeah, and pick humbuckers are awesome. WFD has a pink Humbucker From Hell for sale (maybe still for sale..) check it out, it would be a great neck position companion to a Super Distortion as well.
