Seeing all the guys over the music forums buying the 51's, it's been a bit tough locating all the good advice in one place, I setup a small little forum dedicated just for modding the 51. Tech talk, Wiring diagrams, etc... Just trying to keep all this good info in one place.

Don't want to take away from a cool forum like this, but thought it would help quite a few with specific info.

Cool idea. I have to say, based on a few minutes spent playing these things in stores here and there, that it's definitely a model that screams for modding. They feel much more solid than most of the other Squier models at the bottom of the food chain and they're just ugly enough and cheap enough that it's pretty much impossible to feel guilty cutting into it in any of a variety of ways.

Every once in awhile they make a Squier, probably knowing is got a pile of modding factors in it. The S'51 is Basswood and takes any Tele neck and as I've seen can take a Strat neck too, with minimal adjusting. The neck is actually pretty useable, but many like myself have already swapped necks. I've got a Tele rosewood Am Std on it now.

The 51 is the BEST value in cheep guitars right now hands down...they go for $149.95 NEW and pretty much KICK ASS!!! I still wanna get one and just trick it out but I keep putting it off.

c'mon over guys... lot's of pics and ideas starting to come in. And, Butnut your modding experience should be a blessing over there. We'll be waiting!

I must get around to taking pics of my old custom dinky strat. I has a lot in common with the 51, at least aesthetically. Of course, I could have bought 12 51s for what it cost me to commission back in 91...

I've got a blonde one on order from MF. At $119 total for the guitar and gig bag including shipping, I figured it was pretty much of a no brainer. It's on backorder so nothing has shipped, but now the deal is for TWO gig bags so I called today and they added another free gig bag to my order.

I had played one a few weeks ago at a local GC although I didn't plug it in. The neck played pretty nicely, and it had a nice vibe going on. It'll be the first guitar with a full sized humbucker in it since I sold my Hamer Vector Flying V.

Thanks ION, that is a killer price, of course no one will ship to Hawaii for free...nope. I'll keep my eyes open locally, that is a real nice guitar and yes...a LOT can be done. Have fun...I may join the mix one day.
