I can't seem to find it on any newer production model. That includes the plexi reissues. Where should I look now?

Vibe...buy used!
Look for old Parks and 1987 tops.
Or get one of those Edana tops

Metal Panel 1987 and 1959 Model Marshalls...And of course the earlier quot;Plexiquot; series but neither are within the average guy's reach anymore...

The reissues with great transformers and tubes are nice also...

50 Watt 1987 Head....V30 4X12

1. I had a 73 metal face 50 watter that just killed. Sold it in 1992 to buy my first house.

I also found that the Univox 1246 head (this is the one that I have, but any of the ones from that era should sound similar) with a Carl Martin Plexitone pedal just nailed my old Marshall's sound. Maybe even better. You can pick up one of these amps for around $250 on eBAY and the Carl Martin for around $200. Get a good amp tech to go over this amp, jump the channels and ROCK. The heads are usually light or dark blue and have two big metal handles on either side of the head on top.

The head you see behind me used to be Trace Allen's head...The head was already great and then I went with the O.E.I Plexi Transformer,Mullard tubes, and we both did some cool mods, but no high gain crap...Just great tone..

I do already own the Plexitone pedal...Love it!

I was going to show you a Marshall, but one of these guys ate it.

I vote a big 1 on that, but I'm a little strange.

That's not a Marshallgt;.......Doesn't say quot;Marshallquot; on the front? LOL

Great amp,but everything is still a copy of the Marshall and the high gain stage ideas of a Boogie......That sucker is expensive too....LOL

Those Bogners are pretty potent amps though! I know...

Gotta be the purist here
Dat is no Marshall
But the sound is heavenly anyways....

BluesBreaker's are where it's at.

I know I put up pics of Bogners, but that's after owning about 10 really good Marshalls. Marshall ran the ball up field, Randall Smith intercepted it but tripped over his own feet and fumbled the ball, then Reinhold Bogner snatched it up, ran the touchdown, spiked it, and did a little dance in the end zone! hahahaha

Throw in some cheerleaders and THAT is a perfect day!

I would buy a Bogner based on that quote alone.

I have to admit, I really like the 2555 and 2550 Marshall Jubilees and Slash model. If you bias them nicely with the best tubes, they kick butt. Everything from Voxy cleans to Zakk Wylde type gain....you can dial in a lot of shades of gain with it.

When I compare it to the Bogner Ecstasy, the Jubilee has more 80's JCM800 modded crunch, but the Bogner stomps on it, since it's wider sounding, and has throaty growly mids, almost like a 72 Marshall Superbass with the same versatility as a POD XT. On the Bogner, I can get a Twin all the way to massive crushing gain, and every vintage Marshall tone in plexi mode. They cost a lot, but they're pure joy to plug into. Read the harmony reviews on the Ecstasy 101B. There's guys who've used every amp, and they rave about the Bogner. I just retubed it again, and it's a thoroughbred killing machine! I've started messing with the Class A mode a lot more, and the clean tones are shimmering and beautiful. It's always surprising that an amp that can do great gain tones can also sound better than my Matchless on cleans. It's the last thing I'd ever sell.

One feature on mine that I haven't even used yet is cabinet assigning. One of these days, I'll take the back off my Bogner 2-12, and assign the clean channel to that, then assign the blue and red channels to the closed back 4-12. Maybe I'll do that tonight, and see how that feature is.

I have a one word answer to this question.....
Mine.
