so around december or so im gonna buy a new bass cause my one now is just like a cheap starter thing. im gonna get this spector legend 4 string-and since i dont have a bass amp, i need some reccomendations. i play varying kindsa metal- classic sabbath/maiden/priest/motorhead stuff, thrash stuff like metallica amp; megadeth, and then southerny metal like down amp; CoC. im pretty much just looking for something thatll give me a giant evil low endy sound in general, but still on the clear amp; punchy side. i loved the SWR 4004 i played in MF, but thats waaaay more than i wanna spend, and im looking more for a combo anyway. so if you guys know any good bass combos thatll sound good for about $3-400 (no more than 400), recommend away

ampeg rules!! find a used ba115hp if ya can or used ba210 if ya prefer 10quot;s

I've always been partial to GKs either of the older 400RBs or 700RBs will work well, and you can track 'em down used for cheap.

Look at GK and Hartke, those are a bang for your buck.

Nice axe.

I've played through a few bass heads, but I seem to prefer the sound of a tube guitar head.

You can pick up an old GK 800rb for dirt cheap. Pick up a cheap 1x15 cab, that'll do ya good for a long time.

Check out Yorkville amps. They're reasonably-priced, built like tanks, and sound good. Don't let the name fool ya, these amps sound very impressive.

thanks for the input. seems like most of the stuff you guys are reccomending is either too expensive, or a head anyway. im very much primarily a guitarist, so i dont need a mind blowing bass rig, just enough to sound good fooling around and jamming, and i cant stress enough the under $400 part. my roomate has a roland bass cube, which is pretty good and its $300, but i think i could probably do better with some help

Hmmmm......

If you can find a Peavey TKO series amp (I had a TKO-75 1x15 combo that I used to use for guitar) they're pretty cheap, and work well enough. I think they made a 120w that's easier to come by.

Good, gigable, reliable amp. There are many better- but probably one of the better bang for the buck amps.
