Hello,

this is my first post here and I hope you can help me so I become like this guy.... Here is my problem, I LOVE the SD Hot Rails and Little 59 that I have in my Yamaha Strat, however, I also have a yamaha MS tele with stock pickups which I believe are wired in parallel - this guitar sounds wicked, so here is my question(s)....

Can these pups be made to go parallel??
Can any humbucker go parallel?
Is this an easy thing to do?

Just to make sure we are talking apples to apples I beleive you are talking about the wiring between the 2 humbuckers instead of within the humbuckers-

But if I've got that correct, pickups are traditionally wired parlellel to start with- There are exceptions like Brian Maye gtrs whihc are in series.. it tends to give you a stronger signal with less definition.

Now if you are talking within the PUP, the pup is usually wired in series and a humbucker that is wired in paralelle tends to clean up a bit, gets more defintion, and less output-

Either of these mods are relatively easy, but we would need a better understanding of what you are after unless I'm missing something-
welcome to the Forum!

There are several ways to accomplish series/parallel wiring on a strat. The easiest ( and best for me ) way I've found is by using a deaf-eddie quot;Chromocasterquot;. This is a 6 position pot that replaces the middle tone control, so it's totally stealth. The bottom tone becomes a master tone. With 16 ( series/parralell/out-of phase/in-phase ) tones, it may be a bit of overkill for live playing. He also offers the easier to operate fat-o-caster series.

Seriously, out of the many, many wiring mods I've done to this guitar over the last 20 some years, this is by far the best and most usable.
