i was wondering which tele neck pickup would go with a rio grande muy grande bridge pickup? i was thinking about trying a antiquity but am not sure.
What sounds do you like? What music styles do you prefer?
The Muy Grande is a lot like a Quarter Pounder except the Muy is a little smoother. The QP is almost like a P-90 in a Tele pickup housing. So, it depends on what tones you're after...
The Antiquity I would be my favorite Duncan Tele neck pickup. Unless you want to go to the Duncan Custom Shop quot;Tele ala Stratquot; neck pickup That's my very favorite...has alot of the tone and output of a vintage Strat neck pickup but it's a custom order item.
The Fralin Blues Special would be another one with alot of the tone and output of a vintage Strat neck pickup but it does not have a nickel cover.

The Antiquity I is my favorite Tele neck pup, too, but you have a basic decision to make on how you want to manage your volume. If the MG is as hot as the QP, as I've heard, then they would overpower the Ant rhythm pup. If you like a drop in vol when you switch to the neck, then no problem. However, if you like them to be fairly close in output, then you'll have to go with something hotter like the STR-2 Hot Rhythm or the QP rhythm (or Rio's Tall Boy or MG neck). You could also go with a Firebird-style mini-HB, a PAF-style neck HB, or a Phat Cat neck pickup for a good match in output vol and good tone.
Antiquity I's for a Tele = yummy vintage toneHey Lew (long time no speak. I haven't seen you around the forum all that much lately. Anyhow, how much would that tele ala strat pickup cost? does it pair up nice with the Antiquity I bridge PuP?
i just played an authentic vintage 70's custom telecaster, and the tone from that neck pickup is to die for!

Lot's going on in my life lately...haven't had much time to fool around on the internet. Been moving out of my house in Boulder and house shopping in Taos, New Mexico and it looks like my offer on a 5 bedroom place in town on an acre of land has been accepted!
I forget what I paid for my Tele ala Strat pickup. You should just call MJ and order one direct from her. It really is the highest output and best sounding covered Tele neck pickup I've ever owned.
But my all time favorite would be a great Strat pickup as the neck pickup in a tele if a guy had room for it. I use an Antiquity Surfer as the neck pickup in my Tele Custom, with a Jerry Donahue as the bridge pickup and that Surfer neck pickup cannot be beat.

Taos is a great place, Lew! Good luck with the move!
