i know this is a duncan forum and that you guys helped me before on numerous ocasions regarding pickup choices but i was pretty much set on the cc´s when i read somewhere(dont remember) that the rio grande´s BBQ were the better choice for a les paul.
mine has a lot of bassy and middy wood mohagony tonal qualitys.and is a very heavy set neck axe,the SX.
i just wana get it over with and buy me some pickups.already decided on the seth for the neck.
but i gota have the best higain les paul tones for the bridge, with vintage caracters if possible.
well cc´s or BBQ?

bumpa

I can't offer an opinion on those 2 pups, but I have a JB in my LP Standard and IMO it meets your criteria of quot;best LP tones with high gain and vintage tonesquot;.

im more of a alnico 5 type a guy for the bridge, therfor imagine that the cc will not fill my bag.the BBQ is.
one thing i notiec is that my jb has that chunka chunka sound under higain weras anderson h3 and other bassy pickups did not.
its a les paul i know but has to have the chunka chunka

If you like the A5 magnet, have you considered a Custom-5? It might better suit you than the CC. I really don't know much at all about the Rio Grande. I think everyone that tries them loves them, but as far as getting the sound you're looking for, I don't know.

Well, I personally love the CC and think it would be the perfect pup - for me - in a H-150 (or Les Paul) style body. I like the a2 mag in the right pups, but some people hate it. That's why I think you might like the Custom-5. Kind of the best of both worlds.

My faves for LP's are C-5/59 and CC/Seth. The first one is clearer, tight bottomed, and is has a more hot vintage vibe. Sounds great in most guitars. The CC/Seth is creamier, thicker in mids, and a bit softer feel under your fingers. I'd tend to use this in a brighter guitar, because it'll be too dense and murky in a dark guitar. I've heard that the BBQ is more dense and dark.....people either love it or hate it.

you use the cc/seth in brighter guitars?
then if my guitar is already bassy i should probable put a jb or dimarzio virtual paf right?^
less bassy pickups i guess.

thanks all

Buy some magnets of different types. This way you can get either a CC or a C5 and if you want to convert one to the other, you can just swap the magnets out.
