I just played on this Schecter c-1 E/A and I was wondering what this switch does. I use a schecter c/sh-1 and would I be able to put one of these switches into the guitar? and if so does anyone know how?

Piezo usually refers to a pickup mounted inside the bridge, directly underneath the saddles. Piezo pickups are different from magnetic pickups, and are used to get a solid body acoustic sound.

A piezo element is a crystal. Apply an AC voltage to it and it will vibrate. (Piezo tweeter.) Apply vibration to it, and it will generate an AC voltage, (pickup).

Most pickup manufacturers use these for acoustic guitar pickups: Fishman, D-Tar, etc.

I'd guess that the 3-way would allow the following options

Magnetics only
Mags Piezo
Piezo only

I don't mean to sound like a jerk, but why would you want to put something on your guitar, when don't even know what it is/does?

I just realized that I missed the underlying crux of your question - that aleclee eluded to.

The quot;3-wayquot; just refers to an ordinary 3-way selector switch that might be on any guitar. The quot;peizoquot; is just an extra pickup thats switched by that 3-way.

So, you can't add a quot;3-way peizoquot; per se, but you could add a piezo acoustic pickup, and then switch it on using any switch.

you don't have to know what something does to know that you dig the sounds it's getting,,, I think he just wanted to know more or less if it could be put in, just to see if it is possible.

My Parker has the 3-way toggle, starting from bridge postition:

1. Fishman Transducers only

2. Fishman electric pickups

3. Electric pickups only

If i remember right, Ibanez does have Piezo pickups in some of their electric guitars together with magnetic pickups selectable with the toggle switch. You can check this out in their web site.
