Hey, I have a 78 Gibson ripper that I would like to outfit with a SMB-4d, but i wanted to know if it came with the active electronics from , or what..I love that Stingray tone, and think that this pickup would match my ripper very nicely, but I just wanted to make sure of what all I would need to make it work..
and for those of you vintage guys that think ive lost my mind, dont worry i like the original tone of it also, but think I could pull even more out of this bass with a different pickup..and Ive got multiple pickguards so I can quickly swap pickup selections without having to go a bunch of rewiring/changing of configurations..

welcome to the forum!!

the pup comes with just the pup. the electronics are sold seperatly.
i have used the alnico mm pup many times and its great! the electronics really complete the package

Ah finally..thanks man..now ill have to hunt down the electronics as well!

Oh..well any active electronics bass package work, or does it take a particular one? thanks again...its just hard to find this info listed anywhere for sure

you can use any preamp that you want but i suggest the stc duncan preamp. mine has volume, treble/mid/bass boost and cut and there is a push/pull slap switch which boosts the lows and cuts the mids. the amount of bass boost and mid cut is adjustable which is nice!

well of course you would, your the admin on the seymour duncan forums! haha..ill probably go with it anways though

moot point now..there not enough room int he cavity of a ripper to fit anything!
