Greetings everyone,

I'm new here, and it's my first post here.
I'm looking for a pickup replacement for my guitar.

Right now it has the stock pups which are ceramic both neck and bridge position.

It's built with a maple neck thorugh construction with Alder wings,
it's a short scale neck with 24 frets and liscensed Floyd Rose,
and it's a two Ceramic Humbuckers configuration with a single 3 way switch, and it's a rosewood fretboard.

My style is more Hard Rock, 80's metal and prog rock as well.
I will be replacing both pups, and I'm looking for something to make more sound posibilities.

I've decided that I'm disatisfied with the Neck pup in particular.
It sounds flat and doesn't respond to dynamics and picking.

I'd like to have more Clean sounds by making some Coil splitting to get more Scooped sound in the middle position, and maybe split both pups.

I would like to get a warmer pickup for neck position, more sensitive, responsive, and not too Treblish tone.
I'm pretty okay with the Bridge pup as it is now as far as sounds goes.
It's bright, crunchy, more responsive and has enough output, but can't be split because it has 2 wires.

I'm still considering many options and is one of these options, I'd like to hear your opinion for a suggested setup.

Thank you very much,

BetaCAM.

p.s. this is my setup:

two tonebone pedals: hot british and classic, Ibanez Chorus CS9, DD3 delay straight to my Peavey Classic 30 tube combo.

you could look into an Alnico II Pro set...these are pretty warm sounding vintage style buckers. Maybe an Alnico II Pro for the neck and a Custom for the bridge. And then there is the 59 set, which IMO is the best all around set Duncan offers, the 59 set will cover lots of ground if you want it too, plus it's a good starting place, if you get a 59 set and are for some reason unhappy with part of the tone, you have a starting point, you can say...quot;I like the 59, but I want a little more punchquot;, or whatever you want to change about it. Also keep in imnd Duncan has a 21 day return policy, so buy some pickups, give them a shot, then get some help on the forum and then if you need to, change them for something else. If you get something, and can give us something to go on, you will get some good help, there are lots of good people on this forum, we all have pretty good ears, and like to help...take the plunge, get a starting point and good luck!

Welcom to the best forum on the web!

Hey man WELCOME TO THE FORUM!!

If you want to warm up the neck slot go A2p, Seth, or PG. These three pups have an A2 magnet which has a tendency to be warmer sounding with less string pull.

If you replace the bridge I'd go with the custom. It is going to be high output and have the aggressive edge from the ceramic mag. It has good mids and highs and plenty of bass as well.

welcome

funny, i was gonna say a JB and a Jazz for the music he plays and the sound he is after ...

the A2 based suggestions certainly will sound great too

good luck

HA I was too!!!

I recanted when I thought about warmer for a while, and then he said he liked the ceramic bridge, so I figured the custom would be similiar but a step up. But yeah, he should definitely check out the Jazz/JB combo as well.

Hi all,

Thanks for your recommendations, I will look into them and
make my conclusions.

I don't live in the US, I live in the middle east so I don't think
the return policy is valid, that might be a problem.

We'll have to see what turns up, I'll hope for the best.

Thanks in advance.
