was wondering if i should get antoehr JB or try the custom for my wine red LP custom?
the JB is in a all mahogany black beauty historic and there it stay
but in the red one with a maple cap should i go custom sh-5?
are the JB and custom similar at all?

Try the custom, I like it better than the JB. They are similar, but the custom has more bottom and the JB has more highs with an upper mids nasal thing going on that makes it sound a little more modern. The custom is tight and balanced with a very slight mid-scoop making it more PAFish. The custom has always been my default favorite in a Les Paul.

Try a custom. I like it more than the JB. If you don't like it, just return it and get a JB.

I am going to be using the duncan return policy to return the new distortion i got .
so before i ship the distortion back i kind of wanted to get a few opinions first.
the custom will be going in a slightly brighter LP(maple top on this one)
the JB is in a a ll mahogany BB historic and it sounds killer there.
so maybe the customs extra bottom will work best in the maple top LP custom?

I really like the duncan JB/jazz i have in one LP and only need a bridge duncan now, i already have a 59n i bought.
so it is either another JB? or something new like the custom?

I have a Custom in my LP, and it does have a maple cap, and it is good.

The Distortion is the most similar to the JB. From what I hear it's the same coil windings but with a larger ceramic magnet instead. I really did not like the Custom at all. My two favorite pickups are the JB and Distortion for the bridge.

I absolutely love the Custom in my Les. Kind of like the 59's bigger, meaner brother.
