does anyone know what s.d. pickup might achieve the guitar tone from incubus' quot;crow left of the murderquot;? also, i will be trying to put it in a telecaster neck position. thanks for any help.

I'm not familiar with that particular song, but most of their stuff sounds like lower output humbuckers to me. If you have enough space under the pickguard, I would go with a Pearly Gates (it's what I use when my band covers Incubus tunes), the APH, Jazz, or Seth Lover.

BTW, what do you have in your tele's bridge position.

i'm pretty sure they are both samarian cobalt noisless (american deluxe stock pair). from the few photos i've seen, the guy from inc is using something like a jazzmaster, but i'm not sure. you may be right about the low output humbucker if it's a p-90 or similar. i'll have to dig deeper...

ph yeah, BTW...no matter how much a Jazzmaster pup looks like a P-90 they sound NOTHING alike!

gotcha. i'm sure his amps have something to do with it. i saw them in providence, and he had four different amps all wired up. an orange, a marshall, too much for me to recognize. it must be the jazzmaster that made those tones because they're like nothing else i've ever heard.
btw, i'm always feelin brave! i don't think i'll be doing any routing on the tele body, but just to get close might be nice. maybe the sd jazz in the neck...

Hi,

Would you say that the Squier Telecaster Custom II (fitted with duncan designed P90's) be in a similar ball-park to the Jazzmaster?

I bought one about a month ago - and I think it sounds fantastic. It's much nicer (clearer, not as muddled) than my Epiphone Les Paul ('96 Ltd Edition model).

I tried a Jap' re-issue Jazzmaster whilst choosing the tele' and I didn't think much of it at all. Is there a big difference between the Jap re-issue and the US Jazzmasters?

Thanks,Mike

He used a telecaster with two singles when they played on jimmy kimmel sometime this past summer. Im not a huge incubus fan, so i dont know what song it was
