I have a Schecter diamond series c-sh-1 I was wondering what pickups would be good for jazz/funk/rock. For the neck i'm looking for a nice jazz tone, and for the bridge nice lead tones.
I'm looking to get a santana and/or Trey Anastasio from phish tone.
any advice would be great thanks.
anybody out there?
also, has anybody heard of Schaller humbuckers? how are they
cant go wrong with a JB/jazz combo.
Other options are any of the customs and the 59'.
cant speak for schaller. Probably best to stick with a company that focuses on making pickups IMO, but everyone's got their own tastes.
For smooth tone the best it's a APII/CC combo. I haven't tried them but I've heard a lot of clips from them... Neck it's smooth and jazzy with touch sensitivity, the bridge it's completely smooth on overdrive.

Hey Shredder, I'd go with a Jazz in the neck slot for sure, it will do all you are looking for and then some, it has great articulation. The A2P will be warmer, but have a looser low end, and less highs.
For the bridge slot a JB would cover a lot of bases, but if you want a smoother more buttery tone look into the CC.
I've got a set of Schaller buckers I pulled out of my Heritage 150 they are alright. I could get good classic rock sounds from them. They sounded good at everything, but great at nothing.

i think the AIIP or 59 in the neck would be good for the tone you are looking for ... a CC or C5 would mate well with these in the bridge, depending on exactly what tonal flavour you are looking for ... C5 will probably have more highs ... CC a bit more prominent mids ... the JB is a great pickup (i love mine) , but i am not hearing it as a good choice based on what you say you are looking for ...
good luck
