So what do you reccomend as far as jazz gear. I got my Dean Evo, not a hollow body but it will do. The last guitarist that is graduating used a les paul and a small fender amp. So pickup suggestions and amp suggestions.
It doesn't matter one bit. I play in jazz ensemble with any of my gear. You can even use a strat.
Yeah... But i need a new amp that i can take to the rehersals. I don't know what to get. I think 15 watts is enough.
ah I gotcha. A combo would suffice, tube if it's in your budget. I would go to 30-50 watts though.
Fender makes great tube amps for clean tone and there pretty well priced.
Fender Blues Jr 15w
Traynor Custom 20w
Both around $400?
Cheap and good!
Thanks, yeah if i can get the money over the summer, i'm going tube.
Have you tried a Carvin Bel - Air Combo???
They are really awesome - all tube 50w
Is it a big band? If it is, it probably doesn't matter....In my experience in big bands, the train of thought of the director usually was, quot;if the guitar can be heard, it's too loudquot;
anyway....I used to use my hollowbody through any good clean fender...but a lot of jazz guys swear by the Polytone Minibrute...not tube, but it's a great jazz amp....
Yeah it's pretty big. Nobody would notice if i stopped playing or hit the wrong chord. LOL. I do get to take solos though.
I'm thinking a laney lc15r maybe for an amp? It has pre and post gain so i can turn the pre down and stay clean. Then i could still use it at home for a blues amp.
Yea i was just about to recommend the LC15R, so go try one out if you can.
I think there's a Laney dealer pretty close to me.
peavey classic
used!!
How much gain do they get? Since i'm going to be using it for other things besides jazz if i spend that kinda money.
Yeah, i'd need a pedal with it...
