Hey guys... I'm kind of confused by the info provided by the dunlop website. Some seem to have an automatic bypass, others a manual... others none... could someone please bring light into that?
thanks
*bump*
None of them are true bypass. All have a buffered bypass, or what they call, hardwire or hardware bypass.
Go to and there are true bypass diagrams for the do it yourself guys..

1 for the current ones which I assume you are talking about.
THis site discusses converting it to true bypass:Dunlop Crybaby Mods
It involves slicing a trace on the pcb so it should be considered non reversible.
Someday I'll get brave enough to tackle mine.

Yup. The new ones I'm talking about. My wah is 15 years old and wasn't true bypass either. It is now thanks to that site.
ok guys thanks
hmm after reading this article bert123 posted, I have a question on that switch I'm installing... is it auto activated/deactivated when pressing the wah pedal or do I have to do that by hand? I mean the way he wrote it it should be auto activated...

The switch replaces the one that is currently in there. You activate/deactivate the wah the same way.

i don't know if its really true bypass but my dunlop crybaby classic still passes the guitar signal even with no battery or plugged the other way around(bypassed of course). the dpdt switch is crap though, mine failed only after a few minutes of using it. i replaced it with a fulltone 3pdt switch and now works fine.

Yeah, but I'm a wah n00b you know... so do I have to switch that switch seperately or is it switched when I use the pedal?
Edit: Ah... wait a second... the switch I'm going to replace is a footswitch switch... aaaaaah didn't know that they exist in DPDT too... ok now everything makes sense
thanks
