I was wondering is a flatter fretboard radius better for legato techniques.? If it is too flat would it affect your chording? I ordered a guitar with a 14quot; radius i think i can maybe get it with a 20quot; radius which i heard is flatter. How would that affect playability? Would it even matter? What is your experience with folks???
Some people feel more comfortable playing chords on a more curved radius. I guess it's because you use 'grip' the neck more than for single notes and such. A flatter radius allows more bending before the notes 'chocke' out.
Whatever feels right. 20quot; is just friggin huge (flat) man, thats crazy! I think its the biggest (maybe 22quot;??).
20 is completly flat i believe and it can really cramp your hand. I do alot of legatto and 12'is perfect for me. 14'would be great aswell but i believe 12 is the best all around. Try a jackson 16' in the upper register. Try a Vai Jem if you wana try 20, its hard to get used to.
