Off of my buddy JD Sleep's Guitar Gadget website I have built the quot;BSIAB 2quot; and the Marshall quot;Guv'norquot;....Both of these pedals were built by myself recently and then tweaked to my own fussy tastes...Both pedals sound great! The Guv'nor has the Marshall cutting midrange with note tightness down pretty good...The BSIAB 2 is kinda like a Marshall meets a Dual rec...It's a darker tone, but still retains pretty decent note definition...I added a cool quot;contourquot; control to mine so I can really tailor the way the mids and low mids react with certain guitars and my amp...If you're thinking about building your own pedal(s)do yourself a favor and check out JD's great effects website....
Be sure to listen to the sound clips for both of these pedals...I'm having alot of fun putting my own pedals together..We're talking drilling the holes in the boxes, wiring up everything, and mounting all the components to the board and all pots, switch,LEDs etc...It's alot of fun and very rewarding!
JD(Jerry) is a great guy and will treat you right!
These sound samples are not my playing...

ooohhh...they sound cool john!
i can't wait to start building my pedal collection!
Man, I wish I had the time or even a decent part supplier in my town...
John: If you ever build a couple more of these BSIAB2 and dunno what to do with them I'd gladly buy one off your hands as it sounds really interesting... Note that I'm in no way asking you to build one for me as I know you're a super-busy guy but I thought I'd mention, you know, just in case... I'm sure they both sound crazy after you tweak them to your quot;twistedquot; tastes... j/k

JD sells the pedals already done up and reasonably priced...His pedals are very neat and professional on the inside...Take a look at the inside photos of his pedals...Worth checking out! I'm just building pedals for my own amusement...And having a blast with it... JD has what you need if you'd like to build the pedals yourself....Just shoot him an e mail..
Both pedals sounded really great stock actually....I'm just never happy unless I can somehow put my own signature mod change to a pedal! Of course the mods have to enhance or be of benefit to my fussy ears or I don't stay with the mods...The quot;BSIAB 2quot; sounded great and I just added an extra control...JD knows about the control and I guess he's tryed it or will be trying it,but it works great and really makes the pedal even more versatile...
That BSIAB II is one of the best sounding distortions I've ever heard. It is very popular on Aron's Stompbox Forum.
Another cool source of DIY pedals is runoffgroove.com. Great stuff.
Oh thanks John! I cannot check the links since I'm at work (shhhh, don't tell anyone...) but I'll definitely check it out when I get home....
Note that if I build one for myself I'll have to ask you for the mods you did to it... that contour knob sounds like a great idea....
Thanks again for the pointers and the links...you're the man as always!

How cool. It's a small world isn't it. I've been posting over at Aron's since last fall. My handle is 'vanhansen' over there.
I've looked at that talkbox circuit before but haven't gotten around to building it.
RG's site is awesome. I've learned so much from him it's not funny, and Mark H, and Doug H.

Cool. When you get a chance, check out the thread quot;Unidrive amp; Sixteen OD sound samples :-)quot; and listen to the Sixteen OD sound clip. That's one that I came up with. It's nothing radical or special, just something that I was inspired to do using JFETS. MartyB added the diodes in, the original design doesn't have them.

John's contour mod really adds Max tweakabilty to the BSIAB II I'm think'in about building another one in a bigger case. I was pleasently suprised how good this pedal sounded stock. If you own a HRDx it LOVES THIS PEDAL !!
I have some clips w/t it stock into my Champ 12, But I'll try to get some up w/t the Hot Rod and John's mod.

Yes...That 1 simple mod really made the pedal alot better and more usable for me....If I need the mids to cut through better,I just adjust the contour knob..If I want things darker,I use the contour knob and adjust the other controls also...I Like this pedal alot..
Lately I'm messing with the Burr Brown OPA2134 chips in my Guv'nor pedal...I really like this Guv'nor pedal also! So many pedals,so many decisions!
