Hey guys I'm looking to add a couple of decent pedals to my arsenal. I'm looking for the best delay and chorus pedals available for less than $100. My rig currently consists of an Epi LP with a PRS Tremonti Treble in the bridge and SD A2PH in the neck running into a Mesa Boogie Tremoverb combo. I'm gonna be adding a MXR M-108 10 band EQ to this setup in the coming weeks as well. I play hard rock/metal but require an nice, shimmery clean.

So far I've been looking at the following pedals:
Boss DD-3
Ibanez DE-7
Digitech Digidelay
EHX Small Clone
Visual Sound H2O (a little more expensive but incorporates both)

Please point me to the best one in this list or others that are better.

Thanks.

I had an H2O. The delay was okay but the chorus sounded very quot;digitalquot;. I'm looking at an electro-harmonix holy grail ($99). Some auctions on ebay have them for 99 bucks with free shipping, power adapter and two sets of strings!

de7 is a great delay!!!!! For chorus I've heard good things about the ibanez cf7, and you get flange with it too.

a used DD-3 Will take ya all the way as far as delay, I've never owned a Chorus pedal so I'm out on that one.

Rock On

I personally like the Marshall Chours pedal. I found it very useable and it didnt have a bunch of unusable garbage on it like most pedals.

Boss DD-3

I really like the Digitech Digidelay pedal. I've been using it for about a year now. Nice delay sounds and you can get a 80s style chorused tone with the modulation delay if you keep the delay time and repeats low. Great value considering the price.

The Boss DD3 sounds nice too but is a little overpriced considering its lack of features.

I've tried the Ibanez DE7 and it is a good pedal as well. Cheaper than the Digitech and Boss.

I'd have to say that the Digitech is my favourite pedal of the 3.

Have you thought about the new Line 6 pedals? The chorus has 3 different types of effect from vintage to modern sounds, and I got to play with the delay pedal last December. Awesome versitility and sounds.

I love my EHX Small Clone. Good sounds. I compared it to the Boss which was ok but not as thick as the Small Clone. IIRC it was used for quot;Come as you arequot; - just to get a sound impression.
The only limiting thing was the Depth switch (you can actually choose only from two depth settings). Luckily I could find the schematics - now it has a depth poti It wasn't that hard to mod - just replace a resistor with the poti...

I'd stay away from the Ibanez Pedals. I own 2 of them, and my buddy owns the Synth Bass. I'm actually selling a CF-7 and PM-7 for 50 bucks to some guy today. I personally don't care for the Ibanez pedals, but thats my opinion.

I've had bad luck with digitech pedals crapping out on me as well.

For chorus: Boss CE-2 or EH Small Clone
For Delay: Boss DD-whatever.
Reverb: EH Holy Grail

I have no personal experience with the pedal but have been told that the H2O is very good pedal-I have tried to pick one up on eBay a couple of times but been outbid by folks willing to pay retail for used equipment.

The Small clone is like the definition of the chorus sound.

The DD-3 is a pretty meat and potatoes pedal. A pretty much standard workhorse, but there are better units.

I just happened to be cruising the pedals in eBay a few minutes ago and there is a H2O for $125.00 Buy It Now if you're interested-it is a new model and I haven't heard anything about how they perform in comparison to the older model.

I think I'm gonna go with standalone units. So far the Small Clone has been by far the most recommended chorus and the Digitech Digidelay is winning alot of praise for budget delay pedal on the gearpage forum.
However I am still listening to recommendations.

The digitech delay pedal I have heard sounds pretty good, but I have heard from several people that they aren't too sturdy.

Thanks for the help thus far guys. I just picked up a Digitech Digidelay on ebay and will be getting an EHX Small Clone chorus this weekend.

Thanks,
Lee
