Howdy all I was hoping someone could help me out.

I have a Ibanez RG370 with a JB in the bridge running through a Marshall JCM2000 DSL100 and a Boss Metalzone and it sounds awesome!!

Now I am looking at upgrading my neck pickup and was looking for something that would give off a nice heavy sound which could work well with dropped tunings but not be as bright as the JB. I am looking for a sound similar to bands such as Chevelle and 36 Crazyfists.

Can someone please give some advice or recommendations

Cheers
Matt

First rip out that horrible JB. Then put a '59 in the neck, cos you shur as hell aint gonna sound like chevelle with a JB, get a dime or a 'vader.

If you think its tough choosing between $80 pickups, try $800 or higher mics. No room for error and the level of quot;opinionquot; much more varied and forceful.

I'm assuming its a 24 fret neck, correct?

If so, I'd go with an APHb, or PGb in the neck position. It will give you a fat sound while still retaining clarity.

yes thats right its a 24. I am really happy with the JB I just wanted my guitar to have more versatility in its sound so something fat would be gold!!

Fat is the 59N. Cleaner/brighter for rhythm is the Pearly Gates or Jazz.
Smooth and warm is APII neck and Seth neck.

trying to decide between the invader or the jazz both sound pretty sweet. Which would be more suited to nu-metal hard rock etc such as 36 crazyfists. Something that would be quite different to the JB???

I would go go for the 59Originally Posted by innersightmattI have a Ibanez RG370 with a JB in the bridge running through a Marshall JCM2000 DSL100 and a Boss Metalzone and it sounds awesome!!

As an aside...
So you are running your metalzone WITH a DSL? Into the gain channel?

Luke

yep running it through the crunch channel with a little bit of gain about 2.5 and sounds awesome! so I want something with a bit more toughness to it as I said

would the invader be 'tougher' than the 59??
