Wattage peked my interest about this pickup. Seing as I haven't been on the forum for a long time I'd never heard of it. I play ZZ Top-ish boogie rock in my band- so obviously this sounds like it could be a good choice for me.

Does any one have experience with or info on it? How does it sound? How hot is it? How does it clean up? Can it be tapped? any other useful info?

Muchas gracias,

it is the bg1400. a stacked tele style bridge pup, very cool.
i think stevo has one

It is a very fat and compressed sounding pickup, not at all like any other Tele pickup I have used.

Yes it can be tapped, it splits the 2 stacked non-humbucking coils from 29k down to about 14k hence the 1400 name it is essentially 2 14k coils stacked one on top of the other. It is fairly dark sounding to my ears and easily gets a tone in the Eliminator vein. It can be raw and cranky if you dial back the gain but If ind the pup is best when run flat out with the amp running pretty hot. The sound of pickup is somewhat compressed and you really need to work it for strong dynamics, it is very even from string to string which is really a bit odd I have to say. I'll try and do a few clips of it. I used it on the new Nasty CD quite a bit most noticeably on a track called Dream About You.

from : localhost/to the right channel to hear it. These are low res clips PM me your email again and I'll send a full MP3 so you can hear it.

It is a great pickup...I didn't think it was dark, but it might have been my set up. Actually Wattage bought mine and used it on his album. That's about as close to fame as I'll ever get! I'm sorry about that you should have sold to someone with a fighting chance , heeeheee!

Well I shouldn't say it is dark persay but certainly more so than my QP which is what I was thinking when I wrote it.

.No...the hope of millions is in your hands!

One thing I will say it sounds great pushing digital amps, don't know why but it sounds far more organic than most pickups, the output must create some unusual overtones that don't normally appear?

Thanks for the info. Although I'm a huge ZZ Top fan, it actually sounds like this isn't what I'm looking for after all. I really want more of a classic tele sound with just a little bit more balls (eg P-90 ish). I think the hot tele (tapped) or the Jerry Donnahue is more along the lines of what I need.

See - this is why I ask questions on the Forum! - hehe.
