Well as some of you know a few weeks ago we had a Forum Jam here in NY. It was a lot of fun. I knew a lot of guys were going to bring there Duncan equipped guitars, so I decided to bring my Bass so we could do some Jamming.(I am a guitar player) Good thing I did we had a lot of fun. The Amp at the studio was a Hartke 2000, and I think as well as several other guys that were there thought the bass sounded awesome thru it. I was curious what other amps I should look at. I need to buy a Bass amp. Thanks guys.

how much are you wanting to spend...are you wanting a combo or a head and cab...my personal favorites are Genz-Benz and Ampeg?!

I'm a sucker for 15's, and the newer Bassmans sound great. The Bassman 250/115 should probably run you around $5-600, if you're looking new. If you're looking at gigging out with it I wouldn't recommend anything short of 250-300w Solid State.
Sorry guys. I should say that I am probably going to look to Gig a little with it. As I said I am not a Bass player, but I can play some schuffles

I think a Combo might be in order. The Bass player that I play with has a Hartke combo, but he uses a MIM Fretless Jazz and I think it sounds to dark. It could just be the way he has it set up. I think a Combo might be easier, but I have no problems with a head/cab arrangement. I don't want to spend any more than 3 to 500. Thanks again.

After thinking a bit about this- I'm assuming you're older than me- and I think I'm too old to be hauling heavy gear- You might want to look into a single 15 cab and something like a used GK 800 RB. Any combo is going to be heavy- any way you look at it. I personally like 15's and it just so happens a single 15 cab is going to be around 40 lighter than a 4x10. The GK heads are pretty reliable- especially if you stay within the impedance specifications. Getting a seperate head and a seperate cab also allows you to expand if necessary.

Never played one, but I've heard these are nice.........

from : localhost/I know everyone hates Crate guitar amps(except the Blue Voodoo line) but I think their bass amps are quite good amp; won't break the bank.

Hey Dave ! My buddy Chuck you met at the jam use's a Hartke Kickback 15.
They also offer a kickback 12. It's a cool Lil' amp good for home use and
just enuff firepower to do a small gig at around 100 watts. Chuck say's
rule of thumb...The bassist should always have double the power as the
guitarist. That said... any time I played with my 135 watt SF twin he
would bring his 300 watt all tube SVT. Damm we played LOUD!
But it seem we put are backs out lugging that stuff around Before we
blew out or ears . Huh? what da say?

Trace Elliot AH350 head and 4x10 cab with either 1x18 or 1x15. I also like the Ampeg SVT heads and cabinets. hmmm. how about Fender 300 all tube head excellent buy for the green backs.
