A Hotrails'll do it... at least mine does.
But if you really want the power, why not go EMG?
The Bareknuckle Miracle Man pickups are wound to replicate Zakk's tone but in a passive pickup.
Also, the Bareknuckle Warpig is a high output pickup (around 22k I believe) and also has the power (if not more) than an EMG 81.
Both could be good pickups for the tone you're looking for

1 but I've also heard ZW's tone copped on a SD Custom with a good OD pedal.

1 on the Bareknuckle Warpig or Miracle Man.
I actuallly thing that the JB comes pretty close to an EMG sound. You just have to push it with an OD pedal, duncan pup booster, etc.
zakk actually used a DD on some solo's from the last album
hey man you know anything about the bare knuckle humbuckers?

That's the best place to start instead of pickups.

All I know about them is they (supposably) kick a ton of ass, but are really ****en expinsive.

I have a set of Bareknuckles in my Gordon Smith Graduate 60 (LP Clone).
While I don't use any of BK's high output pickups (Nailbomb, Warpig, Miracle Man etc) I find the 1's I use (Black Dog/Riff Raff) to be very open sounding, to have great clarity and a ton of power when I need it It's safe to say that these pickups are stopping in my Gordon Smith for the forseeable future

I was thinking in the same option but in a more in a general way. To me Zakk's tone sounds like a extremely saturated preamp. So a high gain preamp amp, or a powefull overdrive pedal would help you a lot to get that tone.
I may be wrong but I am pretty sure it's possible get his tone with a low output pickup (59 for example) if you kick the preamp enought. However, a pickup like the JB would give a more quot;definedquot; overdrive tone.
I've read somewhere he uses the Boss OD-1...
naa, you need very strong harmonics with ZW, i'd say at least 10-12k in the bridge if you're gonna have enough sustain..
