As many times as I've perused the Duncan pages, I keep finding new things.
Anyone seen this before, Strat-sized Pearly Gates?Very cool.
Never seen it - but I have a good idea how it sounds! Tell us more...bridge/neck? What guitar didx it come from? How old is it? Custom shop?

Anyone seen this before, Strat-sized Pearly Gates?Very cool. Artie it is a Lil 59 with an Alnico II magnet, and It sounds killer...I had one and I gave it to Theodie (and as far as I know he has yet to even try it out!!!), but it is a cool pickup, I like it!
Yes, but has anyone actually tried one?
**Edit**
Christian you posted right as I was writing........
I wonder if thats a record for most simultaneous posts?

I was thinking the same thing!
i tried it, and then gave it to The Guy Who Invented Fire LOL......should we just pass it around the country? Stevo gave it to me as well haha
So . . . can you give us a mini-review? Did it sound like a PG? A 59 with more punch/bite?
Please . . . please . . .
Edit . . . you guys should've all signed it.
I'll tell you guys this...now keep in mind this was in the bridge of a Strat with a 250k volume pot and I had a 250k tone pot wired to the pickup as well...it sounds very little like a PG to me, but with 250k pots it had a bit of a Custom Custom vibe to it...I liked it, but it was far to thinck to sound quot;Strattyquot;, spo I took it out, if I were building a Super Strat and did not want to use full size buckers it would be my first choice for a bridge bucker, no questions asked!
honestly, i didnt give it that much of a test drive...... and the only extensive duncan humbucker comparison i can make it with, is with the CC/PG set that i had........ i would say it lied in the same spectrum as those 2, maybe in between...... it was more middy than that normal lil 59 you just gave to me Artie.... and not as deep a bass as a normal lil59 either....... it was more focused on the mids and had soft highs.....it seemed more of a mellow and sweet pickup than aggressive
Great . . . more GAS.
OK - so let's be clear...ITS NOT A SC SIZED PG! But is cool....This 250K pot begs the question though...what pots did fender use on PG equipped Texas Strats? And was the quot;Plus designation on those pups because of the 250k pots? And I have a Yamaha PAc 712....pass it my way. I did CC's if that's what they sound like.
no, a lil PG is a lil 59 with the special custom shop a2 'mini' mag installed to it

Actually, it is. Click on Duncans Custom Shop page and scroll down to the Replacements for Strat® Guitars section. Its listed as a Strat amp; Pearly Gates sound. ( I guess that makes it a PG.)
Edit: Although you're right. It is worded kinda weird.

The quot;plusquot; designation signifies a PG with an A5 mag IIRC.
