Hey guys, i just wanted to share my thougths about my dream duncan pickup... imagine having the midrange and bottom of a Custom Custon and the highs of a JB...... hmm..... could this be done?!

-Erlend

I'm sure it could be done. I'm just not sure how you would do it. Custom Shop maybe?

Yeah, the only problem is that the JB uses Alnico 5's for it's glassy, bity airy tone, and the Custom Custom has Alnico 2's, which gives it it's warmth. Hmm..... :-\

LOL!!

Best bet is probably a magnet swap on a JB or CC - try 'em all A2 3 4 amp; 5.

There are a few people here who have done a lot of magnet swaps amp; experiments, I can't think of names of the top of my head though...

JB_from_hell?

i think he put an A2 in a JB? not sure..

Of couse, I think it was a ceramic in a JB though, which IIRC is basically a distortion?

Custom Blues? Jazzy Custom?

What about putting a JB and a Custom Custom coil together? Sure would'nt work well because of the different inductances but?

stag mag! lol

i wouldnt be too worried about inductances man, most humbuckers have at least some difference in impedance, some (like the stag mag) have quite a large difference.. it just lets you select a beefier singlecoil in case you try and tap it, without having the humbucker mode being too hot..

Interesting ideas.BTW, welcome back Erlend. Long time no see.
