I've been thinking about a new guitar guys.
I noticed an ESP M-II in store the other day- i had a bit of a play and it felt good.
It would definately be the solution to the soloist-type thing I've been looking for.
I was at the point where I was going to save for a custom shop jackson soloist (reverse headstock, SD's, OFR, black everything, nice unfinished maple neck (like a wolfie)).
I've done a bit of looking around and the M-III looks promising.
Black, reverse headstock, Original Floyd Rose, Maple neck and HSH.
I'm thinking of getting a JB in the bridge, Fernandez sustainer in the middle and a '59 in the neck.
What do you guys think of that?
And how do the ESP guitars go in general?, the only one I've played before was a Camo viper and I thought the neck on it was amazing.
Sustainers only work in the neck position .
I personally love ESP guitars... I've sold my RR-1 and am going to be picking up an EC-1000 in the next week or so. That's largely a personal thing; I don't like neck thru axe's or alder as a body wood.

Damn, Ok then. What about the M-II?
I've only played one briefly, but I loved it. Killer neck, great, snappy, bright tone, and with an OFR.
They're great guitars man. I've only got an Ltd, but it still feels, sounds and looks amazing.
The M-III looks nice
I wouldnt get the M-III if I couldnt get a sustainer in the middle, I'd go for the M-II. I'm not a fan of single coils or 3 pickup guitars.
Is the OFR an actual floyd rose brand bridge or a ripoff?
What is ESP Quality Control like?
Are there better guitars in the same price range for the same job (ie- jackson)?
I've played an original ESP MV (Maverick) which is the short-scale version of the M-II and it was awesome.
How much were they wanting for this guitar anyway? new or used, I'd probably pay like 500-800 dollars for a used one depending on how old it is.
The OFR is the real deal. I've heard that the ESP QC is very very good and the guitars as well, and the ones I've tried have really been damn nice, even the top end LTD models.
If you're into the M-II and a bit unsure, wait a moment and I'll give you a review when I get mine.

This makes no sense to me as the sustainer is simply using magnetics to quot;drivequot; the string while the bridge pup picks up the sound. In my mind it would work in the middle. I've never tried it, but it would make sense to me.Originally Posted by DeadSkinSlayer3I personally love ESP guitars... I'm with you on the alder thing. My Rhoads was Poplar winged and felt/played/sounded better than any Alder winged one I've tried.
As for the M-II, acording to my 2005 catalogue, it's made of Alder, so it's out for me, unless it is an AMAZINGLY resonant piece of alder like my Tele. I don't see an M-III listing so I can't comment on it. As far as ESP as a brand, the Jake E. Lee Signature I had was amazing as far as QC and fit etc.
I will do Johtosotku. thanks!
I'm looking new, i'd probably import from the USA.
Ones here new I can get for about $2170 AUD. I can save some dollars by getting one from the USA tho.
Im not sure exactly what the scale of the M-II is, but I'd like another guitar with the same scale as the wolfgang (no idea what it is)
I haven't played that many ESP's, but I have an Edwards (made by ESP) and that is seriously good quality.
I've got an ESP Eclipse and it's awesome, not a flaw on that bad boy. I've played an LTD (EC-400) in a store before and it seemed like it had been QC'd pretty good, but I haven't played any other ESPs.

The scale is 25.5, which I think that the Wolfgang is as well.
Remember that you may get the guitar cheaper from Japan, check their shops as well! I've seen DCGL in USA selling vipers for 1150$, and at least here they're more expensive than M-II:s, to give you an idea of the price.
I should get mine in a couple of weeks.
i've played the ESP Vintage Plus and that was one of the best Strats i have ever played...i almost bought it, but the store wouldn't budge enough on their price...anyways, it was a seriously hight quality guitar!

Well with most of the japanese sites your required to be able to read japanese which sucks. Cause I cant.

Something to do with interaction with the bridge pickup, IIRC.
the top end LTD's are ok. esp's are cool
but stay away from the low end ltds their fretwork sucks balls
I'm also looking for a speedy guitar to compliment my Strat which I've been trying (in vain) to get to work double duty as a regular Strat and a metal guitar. I'd love to be able to have two specialized guitars so I could get used to playing in the extreme upper registers and have plenty of clearance and comfort.
I haven't found a place that stocks any good ESP's per se but I'm hoping when I do I'll like it as much as I like the specs.
