I got my guitar today! Its a brand new 04 57' historic custom shop reissue les paul goldtop, but made in a special run and finished in tea burst! Its modeled after original 57 goldtops that were refinished from gold to sunburst, this was commonly done back then because the bursts were so hard to get. They also commonly had off center seam tops. This runs name is 57 reissue refinish( gibson only sold these through two exclusive dealers, in very small quantities) Enough backround...this guitar is amazing!!!! It sounds phenomenal!!! Like nothing I've ever played, truly amazing! AND I bought it BRAND NEW for $200 LESS than a regular production les paul STANDARD!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Pics! please excuse my poor use of the flash and an unsteady hand
Click here to see all the pics!!! from : localhost/photobucket.com/albums/v406/l...rueamp;interval=3 I wasn't sure if it would be good for me to actually post all these pictures so I just gave you a link to the rest
schhhhhweeeeeeet congrats man the axe looks awesome
That is a hell of a steal. Gah I'm envious. Congrats dude!
How did you get it for that cheap?
very cool ... the main thing is that it sounds great, of course
although it sounds like a marketing ploy on Gibson's part, the fact is, my friend Pete down in FLA plays a vintage GoldTop refinned to a burst
how do you like that big ole neck?
Again...I am so happy for you bro...I know you looked for a long time before pulling the trigger...Im glad you like it. I see that our late night Les Paul talk yielded positive results!

I emailed the dealer after reading about a couple guys on the les paul forum who had them and he told me the price, at the time he only had 3 left and he showed me the pictures. Supposedly the refin runs were supposed to be $200 MORE than the regular 57 gold tops(which go for $2500 at MF), I can't imagine what those are going for. I would tell you the dealer but gibson has a new policy where they're not aloud to even send pictures through EMAIL! but the dealer did anyways. I could PM you the dealer if you'd like.Originally Posted by Curlyhow do you like that big ole neck?

he's definately 15... he just worked at the grocery store a little too long and realized he had to spend his money on something!
also a little random tid-bit. I don't know if any one else has noticed this on their historics but hold the side-of-the-neck fret markers in bright light, there tortoise(sp?) shell(or some kind of synthetic clone)!!!! They look black but once you seem them in the light its definately tortoise!!!!
Thanks for giving me more gas...

By Grocery Store you mean pedalling crack on the Streets don't you Man I worked some pretty decent jobs in my teens and with saving it all I don't think I could have afforded something along these linesMan ... remembering when I was 15 I think my father would have cracked me upside the head if I ever even dreamed of buying a guitar over $1,000 (Canadian)
Oh and I have no problem admitting that I'm jealous. My old job had me making 40k ... and I still can't justify spending that kind of cash. It's a shame sometimes
May I ask a favor? I expect non-players to use the term quot;git-fiddlequot;, but not actual players of the instrument. You should know better. I'm also highly irritated by the term quot;Lesterquot;. You know the name of the instrument, use it. If you are referring to it in an online setting, LP is acceptable, IMO.
I'm really stoked by your score on this guitar. Enjoy it in good health, or write me into your will if your health fails, please! lol
