I know that the CE-1 is much larger and has the vib section built in but how similar are the chorus tones in a CE-2 to the chorus tones in a CE-1?

Please...first hand info only...don't tell me what you read on the web...I can read that too.

I had both..the CE-1 sounded a little better, more lush. I didn't notice as much difference between the CE-2 and CE-3.

One of the few benefits of being quot;more maturequot;, shall we say, I originally had the original Chorus Ensemble and it was stolen. I replaced it with a CE-2. The CE-2 is not as warm and as thick as the original, but it's not bad. IMO. I agree with big bad bungalowbill. No word on whether or not he's Sweet William now, BTW.

Sweeter than you can imagine.

i had a ce-2 for years ... i liked the sound because i was into that crisp 80's thing (think 'the fixx', the police, etc..) .. it was a bit hissy, but not un-useably so ... 'warm' doesnt coe to mind when describing it, but i wasnt going for warm, so who knows if it couldve done it or not ... i traded it when i got into rack gear and havent looked back

hope this helps
good luck

Never owned a CE-1...but I do own two MIJ CE-2's and one CE-3. I can compare them for you: the CE-3 is stereo and doesn't sound as good to me as the mono CE-2. The CE-3 seems not as warm and rich and lively as the CE-2. The CE-2 is my favorite mono chorus pedal...that's why I bought two - one for a back-up.

The CE-2 has been used by David Gilmour of Picnk Floyd. He likes it too!

I have a CE-2 which I'm a little bit indifferent to. It's the only chorus pedal I've ever owned but I can only seem to get it to do one thing. I don't know if that sounds stupid, how versatile are chorus pedals supposed to be?

I suppose what I'm saying is, I bought the CE-2 without ever trying it out because I'd heard chorus used in records and liked it. I just assumed all chorus pedals were the same. Chorus is chorus, right? But I can't get the CE-2 to sound the way I want it to.

I thought I'd mention this incase versatility is an issue for you. If it is then I'd advise against the CE-2. Sorry I can't offer any comparison with the CE-1, I've never used one.

Well...Let's see what happens...I just bought a CE-2 off ebay...wish me luck!

The CE-2 has been used by David Gilmour of Picnk Floyd. He likes it too!Yeah. I like the CE2 also. I have had mine for a long time. I also have the CH1, which I bought recently. It is a nice Pedal, but it has to many adjustments. I prefer the simplicity of the CE2.

Ibanez CS-9. The TC Electronics chorus stomps over all.

As for the Ibanez, I had one and I did like it but it was missing something and the TC...I bought one from a friend of mine and hated it...it was just not my kind of chorus.

I hoping to get close to that tone that Billy got on Deguello, which Im pretty sure is a CE-1 but Im not gonna drop $200.00 plus on a chorus pedal...hopefully the CE-2 will be close enough!

Was that TC a split pedal, sort of like the EH Memory Man? The one I'm referring to has another effect that you switch between. I highly preferred the CS-9 to the CE-2, and my almost brother in law humbled me with the TC. It really was more full and lush than the CS-9, and more controllable.
