I don't really care for the stripe, but its a great lookin' axe otherwise.

I like his set-up... I'm not such a big fan of his music though...Good luck on that one!

I know, they are only making him a model because he's so popular. I mean, he is pretty good but nothing really special. *He sings like hes trying to get the mic into the sack*
Have you guys ever heard any of his non-pop playing, the dude is a complete SRV protegé. He's a great player with a great voice, and a great knack for catchy songwriting. If you don't believe me check out a copy of his live dvd, fast forward through his popular **** and get to his jams.

lol i don't care if his name is on it, he's ok by me, i just like the overall guitar. you know me, i'll mod it to my taste anyway. i just like the main features of it. Mayer has some talent, his radio stuff may not show it but he is good at what he does for sure. not my style but i can respect it.
-Mike
the case looks more radical than the guitar's specs are. i dig the case.
I dig John Mayer... both sides of him, actually. I think he's a pretty gifted songwriter compared to a lot of whats out there now. His voice does wear on me sometimes though.
And yeah I saw him on TV for the Austin City Limits gig, and man he really tore it up on that Strat. He's also been known to whip out quot;Lennyquot; at live shows. I wonder what all the screaming girls think of that...
Does that guitar come in any different colors?
It looks like a normal strat with a stripe. It's probably nice, but a nice strat is a nice strat. It's probably kinda pricy. I do like it though.
I don't know a thing about Mayer... Mike, I can see why you would like that axe... Screams Diamond Plate Pickguard!
The stripe seriously makes that axe... just repaint the rest of the body yellow

Yo, Mike...you do know that, those guitars are routed S/S/S, right?
Plus...what about the neck...Rosewood?
are you gonna be the Jolly of fender?

Plus...what about the neck...Rosewood?i'm waiting to hear back about the routing for sure. oh yeah, i do own a router ya know lol. as for the neck yeah, i know i tend to lean all maple but the rosewood seems to work well here. that stripe and the color combo just keeps pulling me in lol. also the fact that it has a slightly thicker neck is a plus and the fret size is good (taller than normal). and i like the fact that the bridge comes locked down with 5 springs and no trem cavity cover installed (no holes drilled there either). plus it just has this overall hot rod vintage strat look i like.

John Mayer is a great musician, you're crazy if you're disputing that. People that hate his pop stuff will be getting a foot in their mouth when he releases his blues album under the quot;John Mayer Trioquot; (from what I've heard on the radio).
That guitar is sweet! I love the racing stripe and finish. I bet the tone kills on it. What I like about the Johnson and Mayer sig. guitars is that each one comes with their specially wound/voiced single coils. I've never been a huge fan of regular Fender singles, so these might be a step in the right direction.
sweet looking guitar, but the bastard is trying to steal my racing stripe

lol no...you stole the mustang stripe ...he put it the other way lol. it's all good, the 'stang stripe looks great on any strat and even teles too. i had it on a white strat a few years back and have plans to use it again on another build.
i like his color choice, that's what draws me in. shorline gold gives it a classic look and vibe then throw the candy red stripe on top and it's like a modified '57 Chevy....still a classic, yet now a hot rod!!
-Mike
I'd prefer it to be dark blue with a silver stripe, but to each his own. If I had the cash, I'd be buying the guitar right now.
That's one big frikkin violin case!
