Just a question to those who own or have tried the SU pickup booster. When using single coils, how well does the resonant switch give it a humbucking tone?
Thanks,CoachC
I think it does a great job although my Strat or Tele doesn't sound exactly like a Les Paul with humbuckers when I use the Pickup Booster. The tone is still a little more transparant...which I regard as a good thing. But the Pickup Booster will allow your single coil to push your amp into overdrive the way a humbucker would. It's an excellant device. IMO, it's the most refined and versatile booster I've owned. I still like my DS-1 alot...but the Duncan Pickup Booster has a greater range of tones that can be dialed in. Position #2 gets you into the ballpark. Position #1 is more subtle. It mellows the single, but I wouldn't really call it humbucker territory. I imagine it depends somewhat on the single and the 'bucker also. I compared an APS-1 single, to a Distortion and 59. (All three neck models.)
