Hi!

I have an hurdy-gurdy that was three piezo pickups, one for each group of strings. First I hadn't a preamp/buffer, I got one and the sound improved greatly and I also changed the piezos positions and got a better result but still not good enough. What I really would want is a better separation between each group of strings. As the piezos are patched in the instrument boards I think it is very difficult to achieve a good separation. I was considering using magnetic pickups, but I don't know which ones are better to ask a luthier to apply them, as mine doesn't know. Does anyone with a helpfull mind wants to give a sugestion?

Thank you in advance,

Luciano

I might be able to if I knew what a quot;Hurdy-Gurdyquot; was...

An hurdy-gurdy is a originally mediveal instrument. You can find all the information you need here: from : localhost/
This instrument sound like a mixture of cello and bagpipe. In fact 99% of the music for bagpipe can be played in an hurdy-gurdy.

Bump,

Is there any electromagnetic pickup for an acoustic instrument that is of easy application?

Thanks,

Thanks,

L.I have No idea. Haha.

Your best bet would be to Contact the duncan custom shop and talk to them. They may (or may not) be able to Custom make you a pickup for this quot;hurdy gurdyquot;.
You Might also wanna do a search, and see if you can find an actul Hurdy gurdy forum. Sumthing like that would probably be able to better answer your questions than we will here. Cause I am guessing That I'm not alone in saying quot;I have Never seen of those beforequot;. haha.

good luck

hey, hurdy gurdies are cool!

you might try the DTAR forum, the acoustic research arm of Duncan amp; Rick Turner

Here comes the rolly poly man, singing songs of love... I'd imagine any soundboard acoustic guitar pickup would work, provided there's decent contact with the body and the pickup.

EMG makes pickups that might work for you. They're currently on some NS Designs upright electric basses like this one: from : localhost/www.nedsteinberger.com/instru...rbasscello.htm
