that's what i've heard too. he's got one of his chromeboys with duncans for sure.

One of his Chromeboys in that dvd does have a set of duncans in it. He uses it for a number of songs. My guess as far as the tone he pulls out of them is that he uses a pearly gates neck with an A2 JB, or a Pearly Gates Plus in the bridge.

yeah i love that song so much!!! its to bad he wont play it live anymore.... he says whenever he plays it live something goes wrong with the exception of live in SF

He had 2 ChromeBoys - one set up with FRED in bridge and PAF Pro in the neck, the other (named Pearly) had Pearly Gates in bridge and neck - but it was stolen last year and never recovered as far as I know.

In response, Joe stopped using the ChromeBoy and reworked the basswood 1000 model into the 1200; re-did PAF Pro with DiMarzio so now it is a PAF Joe and worked with Ibanez on a revision of the trem. My guess would be so he could get the basswood to resonate and sustain like the ChromeBoys - or it was all a spin from the Ibanez marketing guys to sell more Satriani guitars :-)
