I am getting some handwound pickups (fron Jon Moore in Canada btw), and I have settled on 7.7 for the neck, but for the bridge's resistance I am lost...Should I stick with 8.3? Or maybe 8.7? Or even 9.2?
These pickups will go in a Parker Nitefly, which has mahogany body and a bright sounding neck...Supposedly a very balanced, rich tone acoustically...
I want an articulate and responsive, but harmonically rich, and airy and open and breathing tone...No metal here, I want lots of clarity...
Rid's 80s jam has tone I like, but I am sure that pickup has much higher resistance...I want PAF clarity with harmonics and not brittle or weak sounding, but no chucka chucka palm muting sounds...I use a Fender Hot Rod Deluxe, and high resistance pickups dont agree with it...
I want thick but articulate lows, complex and full, pleasing mids, with a smooth top and lots of sustain and richness for jazz, jam, and blues...
What should I go with?
I know I am not a big important addition to this forum, but can someone please help me out?
I think the guy making them should know what you want!
I would go with the 8.7 or the 9.2k. They are 1k away from the neck which is the best bet for a great in-between sound. I would go over 9.5k only with an Unbucker, which is focusing on one coil and remains clearer. The 9.2k could have some extra beef for you.
But i would ask J.M. he know most about his pups.
Impossible for anyone here to say how that guys pickups will behave. That guy will defiantly be able to give you wat you want if you ask him, he'll kno his pickups.
