A big buy in a far-off land (Africa). I got the Quarter-Pounder for tele neck, non-tapped version. It's all the shop had, and to order my first choice (alnico Pro 2) would have taken months.
Will install tonight and see/hear how it sounds with it's new brother, the hotrails for tele. (which has been in there a few months and is great)
Any other happy QPteleNeckNonTapped users out there?

I guess that makes me a QPstratneckmiddletapped user.
Welcome to the forum. That combo should be killer. And loud!
Many thanks...
I must remind my self not to cook my fingers during the install process - ruins the first night quot;play it in and enjoy the improvementquot; joys... Last time i had me a lil blister.
dude, I love your screen name. that's me to a T.
I spend more time in the equipment review section of guitar magazines than in the technique/theory of music parts... a sickness. But it's so interesting. Much like sniffing around this forum...lotsa GASSing and speculating. Nice...
Anyway, the QP tele neck is in and it sounds wonderful. I am such a sad individual, that i make a little recording of the old pickup in action, alone and in combo. Then i leave all the amp settings as they are. Then do the same recording with the new pup.
Then i listen back and gloat at the improvement. Using terms like quot;articulatequot;, quot;punchyquot; and such. Much like a wine taster might. Truely sad, but hey...geek-fun.
That old Korean neck pups was horrid, muffled and rather dead. Now I have a very very good sounding pup.
The QP rhythm has been accused of being muddy or too bassy, but i think that that is mosly due to folks staying with the 250k pots. I had upgraded to 500s when i installed the bridge hotrails. This made for a nice sparkling QP neck.
The output matches nicely with the hotrails (only a slight drop-off in percieved output volume when toggling)
I took the QP non-tapped. So when i use the middle position (both pups on) I can now split my hotrails, yet have full QP. This is a great kinda two thirds neck/one third bridge position. Which is a really nice sound. If i'd got the tapped QP I might not have discovered this sound as i would have put the tap on the same push pull as the split. So would never have stumbled on that blend.
Now i'm blabbering on. A great sounding pup and compliments the hot-tele guitar, with the hotrails in bridge. Roll off volume and it's still very very mellow and dare i say jazzy, roll off some tone, and with some triad noodlings and comping you'll looking those flatwounds over....
Happy customer... Aaaaah now i need another tele, so i can put some vintage twang style pups in....
