Hey guys. I've been wanting a Les Paul Junior for a while, and I just realized that the ones on MF are pretty cheap. Has anybody tried one of the newest ones coming out of Gibson? How are they? I want to get one of the sunburst ones and refinish it to look like a TV white one.

I love it, wouldn't trade it for anything. I mean it is just a straight ahead rock machine. Mine was set up very well and fit and finish were good, had a few unusual scraches on the back but oh well, we were love at first sight. It was actually more versitle than I thought it would be for just one pickup, but if you are dependant on having at least two pickups it might take some getting used to. My room at college is small, I have to turn off my computer and tv when I play because it picks then up big time since I'm close to them, twice as bad as my strat, tele, or GAX70. That is about the only downside to it. Hasn't been an issue on stage though. I'd recomend it, I love mine.

I personally don't see the point of them. A single . . . P90? I like more options than that. If I were to have a single bridge pickup it'd be a beastly humbucker.

This is why it's always good to try things before you buy them

P90s definitely aren't for everyone... I've just learned for my styles, they are the best for me. P90s have more balls than a humbucker and the clarity of a single coil. However, they also have noise like a single coil and they aren't as fat as a humbucker. If you want a straight ahead snarling rhythm sound, p90s are it.

It's all up to personal preference, but I've never found a bridge humbucker that sounded great clean. The necks work well and the middle positions can work well too, but the bridge was always an issue for me.
