i decided to start my own line of guitars (for myself not for sale) and the first three i built (or am building i should say) are all charvel clones. so what better brand name to use than clone guitars (see last pic of my logo i made) anyway this is the first of 3 done and classic charvel style with bright red paint a maple neck and black hardware. the other two are still at paint. this one is an alder body, with a highly figured birdseye neck which i finsihed in tru-oil. original floyd and a schaller quot;hot stuffquot; pickup (which kicks ass by the way!!). the paint is volkswagen tornado red done by the amazing Dave Mansel of i can't say enough good things about him as a person or about his paint quality...it is PERFECT!! he is the in house painter for McNaught guitars so that alone should tell you how good his work is. the neck is from musikraft and again a nice person, Jim (the owner) there was great to deal with and i will be using them for parts for future builds for sure...great quality!
anyway, enough babble here is Clone 001.
and my clone logo based off you know what -Mike
Love the logo dude. And yeah, that finish looks fantastic!
Cool as usual!
The logo kicks ass!
Very cool
That neck is gorgeous!
that looks great!... i'll have something you should like around February
thanks for the kind words guys!! just wait til you see 002 and 003
the neck is amazing on this, TONS of birdseye. those pics are so-so and wash it out a bit. i'll try and get better ones when i get a chance.
-Mike
You built the bodies yourself, or just assembled them? It looks kickass!
Wow man. You have practically a new guitar every week or so.
Love it. You are a real gear pimp.
nice man! Looks sweet, the logo I thought it was Charvel in the first pic..
pierre: thanks! i bought parts (neck, body, hardware etc) and had the body painted then i finished the neck and then put it all together and wired it up.
frantic: yeah, i buy and build too many guitars LOL...but i also sell off a few to get new ones.
kamanda: thanks! also, that was the plan, from far away or at a glance to look like it says charvel then when you look again or up close you notice it's not
-Mike
Nice for a guitar assembler!! LOL!!!! You are a hell of a designer bro! Everything you put together looks hot! Wait until the quot;chowdercasterquot; line starts popping up on here! LOL!
thanks Dave! i'm all about the details (graphic designer) i could build the whole thing from scrathc i have the tools but not the patience LOL. so i just stick to parts and then let a pro paint it and i finish it all off.
-Mike
Looks awesome, you certainly have an eye for what looks good on a guitar, no wonder you can't bring yourself to selling them when they look that good!
Love the headstock logo design, the headstock is one of my favourite parts of Mr Horsepower too, the 'modified in NY' is a real nice touch.
somebody should hire you to take pics for their guitar website or magazine or something...like always that looks incredible!!!!!!!!!!!
