I am 50/50 on both. I cannot decide.

What do you guys think?

You must be talking bout fretboards, both my guitars have maple, and I love it, but my friends BC Rich has rosewood, and I like it too.

I love rosewood necks (see below) and I like maple necks but I don't get on with maple fretboards.Yeah, I didn't specifically mean necks or fretboards to be honest, so both.

I really don't have a global preference. I tend to prefer one or the other for particular guitars, based on the visual appeal of each material combined with the finish of the guitar. Yes, there are differences in feel, but not so much that either one limits my skill (my skill limits my skill...) and yes, there are differences in tone between two otherwise identicle instruments, but nothing that either makes or breaks the sound, or that couldn't be adjusted by any number of other tweaks.

On looks alone, I generally prefer maple, though it's guitars like the one aleclee posted that are noteable exceptions (is that your's, bro?)

Soundwise, I don't guess I've ever heard a guitar with a rosewood neck and known that's what it was. For fretboard material, I like them both, depending on what sound I'm looking for. I'm more of an ebony fan, myself, but I guess I like maple and rosewood about equally.

Yeah, it's mine. Here's the other side:I like how I can play rosewood or ebony and not really see the grime building up. I hate that about maple fingeboards. I'll be playing thinking quot;Damn, I need to clean that nasty thingquot; For some reason it bothers me....

i've come to love all maple necks and keep selling everything i own with rosewood. i can deal with ebony fretboards on maple too since the sound is fairly similar to all maple just a different look.

I have never seen a rosewood neck, thats cool!

Got both as I have a good usage for both kinds of wood.

I LOVE maple necks with maple fingerboards! In fact I have grown to dislike playing most Gibsons due to the rosewood board! I can do Ebony in a pinch, but I do prefer the feel and look of maple.

Everyone has their limits and Private Stock PRS guitars are well beyond mine.
It's a production '04 model. During the '03 Summer NAMM Show, PRS offered Indian RW necks on Custom 22 and Custom 24 guitars for their regular IRW upcharge. To get that guitar today, you'd have to go through the Private Stock program (unless PRS has some more surprises brewing in Indy) and pay more than twice what this one set me back.
It has the wide thin neck carve--not bulky at all. In fact, it's at the thin end of what I feel is comfy. It's no Wizard but it's a pretty skinny carve, especially with no finish.

What's the rosewood neck feel and sound like? I assume there's no finish on it? That must feel cool. But what's it sound like?

i prefer the looks of maple but rosewood feels and sounds better to me.......

No finish. Feels great.
As for tone, it sounds more like mahogany than maple to me but with a bit more resonance and clarity.

I ask because for my next warmoth strat I'm thinking of doing something unusual like a mahogany or rosewood neck.

In that situation, I'd do rosewood just to avoid finishing issues. I've also considered getting a rosewood (or other wood that doesn't need finishing) neck for my strat.
