Alec, GJ, Architect, Scott etc...

I've currently got a '94 Cu22. Whale blue (non-10) flametop, MaCarty switching, birds, 2x59s (can put the McCarty pus I got with it back in though). Some minor fretwear and tarnishing of the bridge, a couple of dings in the top and the obligitary ding on the smaller headstock point.

Great guitar, but I lust after a McCarty Soapbar. I'm after a maple top version, and would love either a teal black or faded burst model, but may be interested in a black or goldtop. Doesn't have to be mint.

So, what are the odds of doing a trade? -is my cu22 worth more than the average McSoap or will I have to stump up some cash?

-and yes, I'd ask this at B(arristers) and M(edical professionals), but for some reason my login status won't let me post. So any help would be much appreciated...

while I'm at it, anyone seen a mapletop Mcsoap with a trem?

I just traded my Cu22 for a McCarty, both with 10 tops and birds. I had to fork up an extra 200.00 for the McCarty (see my avatar) but I didn't like the rotary switch on the 22 and I like the color and top on the MCCarty better. As to the tone, the McCarty is thicker, creamiermore vintage than the 22. I used to have a MCSoap and it was a real good yet not as versatile as the McCarty.
I would say get both

Depends on who you're trading with. With an individual, you might be able to do a straight-up trade, more likely with you shelling out a bit of cash (based on the list price of a McSoapy vs. the CU22). If the stores down under are anything like the stores here, there's no way in Hades you'll do anything resembling a straight-up trade.
I wish I could help you with BAM. I gave up my moderator position about a month ago. Have you tried emailing Phil? He's pretty slammed with his band and day job but is pretty responsive to those sort of problems.
As for a McSoapyTrem, chances are pretty slim there. McTrems are rare enough. The only McSoapyTrem I know of was a solid mahogany model. As Paul Smith is fond of saying:You're welcome to talk to Joe Knaggs about the Private Stock program.

Thanks, Dom and Alec.

You're right. I'd be looking at over a grand US to trade up to the McSoap at my local dealer.

There is an all-mahogany Mcsoap trem floating around a local chain. I've played it extensively, but haven't compared it to a maple cap hardtail mcsoap. Must do so. From reading Bamp;M, I know a lot of guys consider the all mahogany soaps to be the best, but I really like the articulation of the maple cap.

uh, private stock... -maybe after I've got my Tom Anderson and relic nocaster. A long way after. I gig my guitars, and US 10k and up is a lot to take onstage...

Still, how about a triple McSoap with a slightly-thicker than McCarty (and very slightly oversized) honduras mahogany or korina body...

If you are looking for a McTrem and have a bunch of dough check out

I did see a picture of one in BAM
Good Luck
