I have a JB in the bridge of my DK2. It works quite well, quite a versatile beast. A good choice. I have no experience of the HFH to mention, although on paper it sounds like it could be a good choice, if you're looking for a distinctive and bright sound.

P90 and P90 derivative magnet mixing
I've got a Phat Cat neck model that I had underwound to 7.0k and it sounds absolutely dreamy in the neck of my LP Standard. I had for the longest time assumed that the magnets were Alnico 5's but it turns out they are 2's.
The only 'complaint' I have about it is that it needs a little more output, which can't be solved by raising the pickup because it's already high enough that any higher makes it sound harsh. But...now that I know those are Alnico 2's in it and I have somewhere to go with magnet swaps, I've hit upon an idea that led to this topic:
I'm going to try out an Alnico 4 on the neck side of the poles and an Alnico 3 on the bridge side. In addition to raising the overall output of the pickup slightly, this will give a little more emphasis to that sweet harmonic node right next to the neck and relatively de-emphasize the other side.

Dimensions of pup magnets.
Hello can anybody tell me the dimensions of the bar magnets in SD humbuckers. Specifically the Custom, I want to try a CC so I want an A2 to stick in.

bought a taylor 410 acoustic today!!!!!
woohoo! im soo happy! went in after a looong time of saving wanting to buy the 310 model, however, my pops wanted me to try this one. tried it and fell in love. its sound so crisp, so balanced, plays so well. i loooooove it.
cost only $1200 (brand new) including a hard case, new strings, and a humidifier. the guy was amazing. (my parents and i also worked some things out and it will only cost me 600, because im quot;a good kid, does well in school, and captain and leader of the golf team for school.quot;)i looove it!

It looks like I'm going to pick up a JV sometime soon (probably Xmas or the week after).
I'd just like to know something about the neck: I've heard it's a great playing/feeling neck. What's the neck profile like?
On mine, the neck is a soft V from frets 1-5 (about), tapering to a C as it goes up. Nice and hefty, not so big you'd call it chunky, but it's not thin either.

There's a guy seeling strat necks, complete with tuners, for around $50. Is this a good deal or are these things cheap and to be avoided? Here's the URL:

Who knows about the Ibanez SUPER 80 ?

Well, I guess I'll see what all the fuss is about...
I just bought an '05 Edwards '61 RI copy, laquer top series. It's walnut color, nitro finish, JB/'59 combo, long neck tenon (as any good SG should have). I hope to have it in a week or so.
