Reversing pickup polarities
After speaking with Fender, I finally got to the bottom of my situation. When installing SD PU's in a 2004 Strat HH S-1, the polarities off the pickups need to be reversed. Fender also said, ignore the SD color codes and schematics. Only go by the Fender diagrams. Don't ask me why though? I picked up my axe today still without my new pickups. My tech said, now that he knows what to do he'll have it for me in a week. I'm going somewhere else. The moral of my story is, if I didn't do all the leg work (get wiring diagrams, color codes, Fender CS, etc.), my tech would still be scratching his _ ss wondering why the SD pickups won't work in phase!!!

Placement of adjutable coil side
Hi, I've noticed that the adjustable side of a humbucker (the coil with the screws) is usually turned towards the bridge for the brigde PU, and the neck for the neck PU. Is there any specific reason for this? I plan to coil split the HB's on my Gibson Explorer, would there be any specific reason to turn the PU's in any specific way? BR /miika
Hi Miika; welcome to the forum. I'm gonna guess that it was done that way initially for purely aesthetic reasons. But if I wanted to make a good quot;techquot; reason, I'd say that the stud coil has a slightly stronger signal than the screw coil, since the screws, extending out the bottom, tend to focus some of the magnetic field away from the strings. So, on the bridge, they place the stronger coil forward to get a better quot;bitequot; of the string vibration. Then they place the neck to be symetrically eye-pleasing.
Just a guess.

Bit Of A Strat SC Dilemma? Advice,Opinions Wanted
Lew,Curly....Vintage Strat Gurus of tone!
Yesterday I stuck an Antiquity Texas Hot Custom in the bridge with an APS2 in the neck and middle spots in my 62 reissue strat..The pickups sound great and the APS2s are nice and sweet...
My dilemma...I only have noise cancellation in the neck/middle position and no other noise cancellation in the other 4 positions because I mistakenly put the RWRP pickup in the neck(I think)?

Question for Blues Jr Owners
I just picked up a pretty cool Blues Jr. I haven`t removed the back panel to see what was going on back there and was wondering if a external speaker cab can be ran with it?
Yep, you can unplug the cable going to the internal speaker and plug it into an ext cab.
I don't think the Blues jr. has a Ext. speaker jack. But you can disconect the Internal speaker and run another 8 ohm load. Just be sure what your pluging into is 8 ohms.

Reverb via expression pedal
Anyone know of a way I can control the amount of reverb via an expression pedal?
I've looked around but I can't find any pedals that have a feature like this or anything similiar.
Any tips?

How to record from output on a amp?
On my 2100 slx amp I have a Recording Compensated and Direct Line output. I am planning to send the signal directly to my computer's sound card line in. I assume I'm supposed to use the Recording Compensated output. The output is the standard size, but the sound card's input is the headphone sized 1/8quot;.
Do I just find a cable with a 1/4quot; and 1/8quot; ends on it and just connect it on? If this is correct could you guys give me any links to these type of cables or suggest any that you guys know of?
Bump!

strange thoughts
i was wondering.....let 's say I want to buy a cheap guitar (400$-500$) and mod it.... would it be a good idea to buy a guitar which plays well but sucks at tone? or does it have to play well and sound decent? because after all I will be changing the pups and knobs etc.

Just Checked out the new Squier 51
For a $149.95 you get a lot of guitar. On a scale of 1 to 10 I'd give it a
7.5. It felt very solid ( not as chessy as you would expect for a El Cheapo)
It played nice, 1 master volume (No tone control) the other knob is a
PuP selector. I didn't fall in love w/t it's looks They only had a Blonde
one there(This is where the chessy factor comes in) I think the sunburst

PATB3 Blues Trembucker
Even though its kinda out there as far as looks, plus it isn't a widely used pickup,
I have been thinking that it may be great for what I want...Full PAF sound, overwound but not too overwound, with complex tone and harmonics...
Good for blues, fusion, electric jazz, and some funk...Think I would like it in a mahogany body strat with maple neck???
