I thought I would ask you LP guys what you think sound the best and why. I play mainly Blues and harder blues, classic rock too. Like what will give the best sustain, which one sounds brighter. That kind of stuff. I was told that aluminum sounds the best on LP's, but I was not sure.

Thanks to all who helped me out with my Strat pickup question. However, while in the store, I came across a really nice guitar with an H/S/S config with a Wilkinson trem and locking tuners. It might very well suit my needs better than a Strat. I have almost decided to replace the bridge pickup with a JB or a Custom. What would you guys recommend for the neck and middle positions. Think - Fusion..... I want to be able to cover a broad range....

I've currently got a Fender Texas Special in the neck position of my Godin LGT (H-S-S, mahogany body, rosewood fretboard, floating bridge) and I'm looking to replace it. It gets decent SRV tones, but can get muddy sometimes and lacks the high-end shimmer associated w/ strats.

I've got a pair of chrome Phat Cats that I'd like to install into an axe with
gold hardware, so I'd prefer to have gold covers. Anyone want to swap

Hey guys, I just noticed that Tremonti is using a lot of whammy bar techniques in the Alterbridge stuff. Is he not using his PRS Signature guitar anymore? And does anyone know if hes still using the same amp setup live? Mesa Dual/Triple Recs and Fender Twin Reverbs?

Ok, this time I'm setting up this poll without any customers around to confuse me. People can be so unreasonable, just because they've given you some money, now they want service.
Having gone through many of the posts in this forum, the following are the neck pickups most often cited those favored with the Donahue.

Is an SG considered a dark sounding guitar? Since it's all mahogany it should sound dark, but to me they sound brighter than Les Pauls. The only reason I'm asking this is because I've heard some people say guitars that are all mahogany can be hard to choose pickups for since they will always sound dark.

Is there a difference or is this 2 was to say the same thing?
