I am new to this forum and I am having a problem choosing pickups. I currently have an emg-81 and(2) s single coils. I want to go with 2 humbuckers instead of my current setup. I like to play the stuff I grew up listening to like late 80's early 90's hard rock/metal. I like Slash's tone (Alnico II pro) from that era and Nuno Bettencourt's sound on Pornografitti. I know that type of tone comes from a Les Paul type of instrument, but I wanted something similar from my walnut bodied hardtail strat with a solid rosewood (not just the fretboard) neck. The description of the screamin demon sounds good, and also the Alnico II pro, but I mostly want a good match with the neck and bridge pickups. I had a lonestar strat once that had a pearly gates in the bridge, but it sounded like it had too much mids for my taste. I also have a Godin LGX with a custom version of the duncan custom custom in the bridge and a Jazz in the neck. Other thatn that I don't have much experience with duncans. Does anyone have any suggestions?

All roadcases I have seen commerically avaliable are made of plywood?

I'll keep this real brief, because I can't add much to whats been said before. I have two observations:

I know under the hood, the duckbucker and vintage rails are the same, but are there any differences in tone or output? I need to fill an oval route without the tab for singlecoils, and want to know which is closer to a true single coil in sound...thanks!

Just wondered what kind of fretboards ppl preferred and why.

I need some inspiration and motivation with my Stiletto. I know that sounds awful. I am a proud owner of a Mark IV and Rectifier which I love both dearly. I bought a brand new Stiletto 3 months ago BLINDLY! I bought it because I wanted a quot;Marshallquot; sound, but have heard negative opinions about their reliability. Ever since I got it, I have had a rough time getting a sound that I really like out of it. I am trying to nail that early quot;Van Halenquot; sound, with the hopes of getting that Slash and Extreme sound as well. 80's stuff! I have been told (by a Tube dealer of course) that I should change out my stock tubes. Does the tube brand really matter? Aren't tubes....tubes? I am really trying to do everything I can to find my niche with this beast. I need some help...Please contribute your thoughts. Thanks!

Ok, so from what I've gathered:

anyone know of a place where i can have a custom brass trem block made? or a place that offers various versions of brass trem blocks that may work for my trem?
