Ok, so from what I've gathered:
Aluminum: Brighter, more sustain and clarity. One person said - like moving from humbuckers to a single coil.
Bronze: Warmer.
Steel: ????
Does this mean that for a maple neck and alder body, bronze might be desireable?
I would not say aluminum is quot;brighterquot;. I would say it is warm, with more sustain and clarity than brass (no experience with steel). I always thought of bronze as brighter, alminum is deffiantely not bright. Think mahogany with more clarity. I know there is someone here with a Trussart, maybe he will chime in about steel...no experience here. aluminum is deffinately my favorite tone material (woods included).
