well, the quot;odiecasterquot; is done. it's made up of fender replacement neck i had odie do TONS of work on (see other thread for more info...thanks Dave!!) the body is an alder NOS Schecter USA strat body with THE BEST heel design on a strat ever (see pic, it just rocks)!! the guard is warmoth as usual, pickups (for now) are a JB bridge and new style hot rail neck...i like the JB so far but i may switch it out for something with a bit more low end in the future, not sure yet. graphite nut, graphite saddles, schaller mini locking tuners, black hardware (obviously lol), 500K CTS pots, orange drop cap, switchcraft jack and switch yadda yadda yadda. this thing plays amazing with the oil finished neck and monster size (6100ish) frets and 12quot; radius oh and before anyone asks. it says quot;schecterquot; on the headstock (to go with the origin of the body) in the vintage style USA font they used on their quot;strat headsquot; at the time.
(it pays to make your own decals lol).
this is a bit hard to take pics of due to the color...it's actually a little more turquoise than the pics show. it's kind of a cross b/t lake placid blue and ocean turquoise from fender...
the mentioned amazing heel design...

What the hell is that piece of crap?!
j/k
cool to finally see the parts together instead of seperate. I might get one of those Schecter bodies.....then send you the bill for it.
lol thanks...it came out great and plays amazingly for a bunch of parts from all over. i'm still not sure on the zebra in the bridge, it looks cool but i know all black would work too, so if i change it i'll go with all black or perhaps blue and white or blue and black lol. who knows. oh and this body rocks, i want another one!!
-Mike
leave the zebra in the bridge! I dig it...thats one of my favs of your stuff so far!

thank you, thank you! yeah the zebra will stay for a bit i think i'm liking it!

maybe for something completely different, get a lipstick tube pickup from seymour duncan for the neck position...could be really interesting....too bad you can't get one in black, or can you?
nah, i'm not changing the neck PU, i love the hot rails in the neck for lead work...gets a bit muddy under high gain for chords but is great for a screaming lead!! plus i waited quite a while to get the new style hot rails for this along with the custom ordered reverse black and white zebra trembucker JB. so they'll stick around for a bit.oh yeah and my pewter strat has a lace chrome dome in the neck that kinda looks like a lipstick PU since it is a solid chrome no visable poles cover. sounds great too!

Looks real nice, XSV. So how many guitars do you own, NOW???
Heel design, is that pretty much the same as the warmoth design? I've been interested in assembling a strat with one of those heels for a bit now.
as of now 16 guitars 1 bass but a guitar is for sale and another may be for sale.
as for the heel, it's close to warmoth but not quite the same. warmoth only angles 1/4 of it which is just kinda odd to me. schecter USA did it the right way and made the whole thing angle down so it not only frees up all the room you could need but it looks better too.

Ibanez did the same things before their all-access-neck-joint. Sweet guitar, XSSIVE!
Nice Guitar!
same heel as my schec... except that looks better
slade
That's a sweet looking axe; it makes me wanna tear apart my Jimmie Vaughan and sell all the parts except the body, and then turn it into a metal machine.
...how do u come up with this stuff? tahts a really nice peice o wood there
ankalar..yeah your right, i'm actually on the hunt for an old school all maple neck RG to add to my fleet. either an rg550dx and rg770 or and rg565. all of which have the old style heel. i wish ibanez still made guitars like those with all maple necks etc. such better guitars overall from that era of ibanez IMO.
wixo...thank you!
dangly...i didn't know that had the same heel. cool, it's comfy ain't it?
crono...do it, do it
tfb...i think it comes from my graphic design background. these guitar ideas just pop up numerous times a day lol. i have lists and mock-ups of guitars i'd like to buy or build r modify and one by one i knock one off the list. the bad part is the list is getting a bit MASSIVE now lol.
again, thanks everyone!

XSSIVE USA Schecter theodie Duncan = YOU HAVE A FREAKIN LOT OF AWESOME GUITARS! Man, I love the guitars you do..maybe have to get you to help me design my next guitar
Mike, have we counted how many times i congratulated u on building a awesome piece of gear? well, add one to the count.
how does the freshly dressed frets on the neck feel, courtesy of theodie of course?
I've never played a well dressed and leveled guitar before, i hear it's like playing a custom shop piece!
capo, i'd be glad to give you ideas!!
pac...thanks man!!
quench...the neck and frets are great. odie did a damn good job. it was refretted with the 6100ih JUMBO frets, had a radius change from 9.5quot; to 12quot;, he rounded the fingerboard edges just a bit for that perfect broken in feel instaled a custom cut graphite nut and did an oil finish on the neck. i never want to put it down now! this neck is just magic, it feel sooo damn good now! the fret level and dress was great and the guitar just plays like a dream!
