Excellent guitars, i just traded mine for a nice bass, They sound and play great, go for it!

Looks pretty sweet - a bit like Josh Homme's ovation he uses for QOTSA stuff. Whilst I'm sure others will suggest pups that you could get for it, it looks like a decent deal - assuming the price doesn't go WAY up in the next 5 days, which it might...

It sucks that they only sell those in japan.

The Guy Who Invented Fire has an SG2000, which I would guess is a better model. Maybe he can shed some light on these designs.

There great guitars I have a basic 80's SG200 (no pretty binding or fancy inlays) but it was made in Taiwan. Saying that the build quality is great and the stock pickups are very meaty (mines been coil tapped by the previous owner so is very versatile) and it knocks an Epi into a ****ed hat.

Paid £155 for mine with OHSC inc shipping. This one will go for a bit more but saying that its not mint and has a few dinks so it will not go for top price and will be nowhere near a gibbo price - if I had spare cash I'd buy it myself.

The Yamaha SG series is amazing...I have a SG 2000, and it is never going anywhere! The 300's are a solid mahogany body and neck, rosewood fingerboard, and I belive a mahogany top...kind of like a 1957 Les Paul Custom...The stock pickups are either Yamaha or Dimarzio in the 300's so IMO you should change them, but again...bang for the buck they are amazing guitars, the thing is, I got mine years ago before everybody knew how good they really were...the prices have been going up and up for several years now!
