I am currently turning my Godin LG Signature into a metal guitar. here are the basics: mahogany body, maple top, mahogany neck, rosewood fretboard and stoptail bridge, and i have narrowed down to two promising combo's:

What to do with 2 EMG 89s?
I decided to go into a small guitar shop today just to look around not expecting to see anything. I saw a few EMG pickups in the showcase with a 50% off tag. I saw 2 new 89s in beat up boxes for $139 at 50% off which is not a bad deal. I asked the owner if he could do anything more since they were missing the splittable pots and he said he could bring them both down to $80 then take off another 50%. Neadless to say, I bought them both. My dilema is that I don't know what to do with them. I have an SG with a Zakk Wylde Set (81,85), and two ESPs loaded with Duncans. I was thinking about changing the 85 in the neck to an 89 so I can have the single coil tone, or maybe even dropping 89s in both positions although I do like the 81 in the bridge. I wish I had more guitar real estate haha (don't we all have this problem). Does anyone have a guitar with 2 89s and if so how is it wired.

Who has both Ants I amp; II ?
And which is your favorite? I recently got the Texas Hots and was completely blown away.I had no idea how go singles could be.Along with the SFX-01 these things can do anything from a great clean to all out rock.I loved them so much I just grabbed a set of surfers and cant wait to try them too.The Pup Booster makes all the difference between clean a clear and being able to add a huge amount of gain and sound huge,I love it!

my floyd problem *update*
Yeah so if some of you remember my floyd rose decided to go completely out of whack when I changed the strings last week. Anyways I only trust myself enough to make a few adjustments to floyds and get the thing level with the body. I don't really know anything about how to intonate them correctly or anything. I took it to a dude I know and let him do a complete setup... truss rod/intonate/saddle height, the works basically. Man the guitar feels like its brand new again. It plays absolutely perfectly. This also gave me the realization that floyds need a lot of constant maintenance to keep them playing properly(it had been 5 months since my last setup). My adjustments that I make to it are only to fix for the time being, but it really needs a proper adjustment more often than it gets.

Some valve/tube questions
My local tech called round my house earlier today as he's fixing up two of my amps and he wanted to bring me up to speed on his progress, as well as find out what I wanted him to do next.

did early amp companies intend their amps to distort nicely?
i was just curious-a week ago i posted about the fender twin, etc, and jeff seal chimed in and explained the diff between blackface and silverface and how fender believed that distortion was characteristic of crappy amps.
