my good friend and other guitarist in my band birthday is next month and my other friend and drummer in the band are looking to get him a good used 2x12 combo amp. it doesn't have to be tube and modeling is ok it just has to be loud enough to hang with a loud ass drummer. it's mostly for his own use at home but he may want to use it at rehersals when he isn't using my stuff or the rehersal studios. it needs to do high gain mostly with an ok clean channel. we play a punk/metal mix of music so gain is key here!! anyway our budget is kinda low at $400, i know that won't get me a kick ass tube amp but i figure it can get him something better than the old ass bass amp with boss metal zone pedal he plays through at home now lol. i'm so far looking at a used peavey XXL 2x12 and am open to other options as long as they are at or under $400 and can do high gain well. used is fine obviously.

Anybody else own an LP Firebrand?
As the thread title suggests...anybody else own one or have experience with one? According to Gibson they were only made in 1979-80. I've only ever seen one other. My avater is the one I've owned since ~1983.

Tara Acoustic Amp for sale
I would like to sell this amp. I have had it since the early 90's and it has barely been used. I would prefer to sell to someone in SB, if possible. Please email me for contact. sl.stewart@gte.net

Practice amp for $500 or less with effects?
My friend is looking to get back into playing and needs a practice amp for home. He is not interested in a processor (ala Digitech GNX3 or POD).
Effects on board preferrably. Needs clean and dirty capabilites....tube or solid state. And he doesn't need it to be loud enough to jam with others.

Plexitone Blues
I had the crunch setting on about 25% for the first solo (on the neck). Then I used the high gain setting at about 75% for the 2nd half (bridge).
This amp head was made by my old neighbor He is no longer in this world, and his wife gave the amp to me when she was cleaning house before she moved. It has 2 12ax7s and 2 el34s in it. It has big transformers and it's all about headroom.

Reverse-headstock fender necks?
Eventually I might be building a strat, i was wondering if reverse headstock strats were anything special or if i could just use a lefty (and change the nut)?

vox ad15vt question!
Ok so I bought a vox 15vt for a good practice amp to have around. Well after hours of tweaking and trying to get a good distortion sound I just can't seem to do it. The amp sounds fuzzy under any kind of gain. The clean sounds sound good but the high gain presets just have no clarity and it sounds like someone punched holes in the speakers or something. I even played my emg's through it and it still didn't clean up any. Its a brand new amp and tube so its hard for me to believe theres a hardware problem with it. Any of you vox players do you have any suggestions? I'm probably going to return it if I can't get something decent to come out of it in the next couple days.

Anyone here have/played a 12/6 doubleneck guitar???
.....I've really been GAS'n for a 12/6 lately!.....first time in a long time in the G.A.S. dept. for me!
Falls into the category of things I've never actually tried! Thinking about getting one of the old Gibson SG dbl necks...(or an Ibanez, if I can find one!).
