Well we attempted to wire my friend's Squier again with hotrails/stock singles and this time it works, but there's this constant annoying hum that drowns out the notes. You can hear the notes and the switch definitely activates different pickups, it's just humming!! What do we do?

When ever i take my schaller strap lock or even dunlop strap lock off there is a huge amount fo greasy black stuff. But it seems to be more dirtier on my higher strap button and less on the lower one enar the bridge. Does anyone know a way of preventing all that dirt and grime from getting in there? Not that it s ahuge issue but someitmes it gets all over my hands and my stuff its kinda gross like when you hand touches the engine parts of a car.

I suddenly can't seem to get any sound out of my Schecter. Tapping on the pups does nothing, poking at the exposed wires in the cavity does nothing, no buzzing or any noise at all. I unscrewed the jack and had a look: the clip that holds the cable tip in is touching the tip, but niether the tab soldered to hot or the tab soldered to ground are touching the tip. I was under the impression that they're supposed to, but niether looks like they could be easily bent to touch it. Are they supposed to touch the tip? If not, any other ideas what might be wrong?
