Tube distortion question/comment
OK, so I'm looking at Musician's Friend at Peavey's post-5150 amp heads with like 6 12AX7s for producing gobs and gobs of gain, which is fine. However, when I use my little Ibanez Tube King (that has one 12AX7) with an amp with one 12AX7, I can get a very tubey, overdriven metal sound. Why doesn't Peavey (or another company) simply put a Tube King type circuit in their amps for the gain? I guess the fact there's a ton of op-amps in the Tube King makes it not-so-tubey, and traditionalists would not tend to like that in an amp head, but would rather the distortion come from a half dozen tubes. Sounds pretty similar to me though! You just don't see many one preamp tube high gain heads that also have power tubes.

Install a Hot Rails in a Strat
Im trying to install my Hot rails pickup (bridge position) into my squire strat. The original pickup had two wires coming from it...The white went to the pickup selector switch, and the black went to the volume pot. My new hot rails has 4 Wires: RED, WHITE, BLACK, GREEN. I assume the black wires goes back to the volume pot since it is the hot wire. The green I assume is a ground...where does the ground go? I have no idea about the red and white, I saw a section of the site that has a quot;color codequot;, and said that the red and white wires should be soldered together and taped in electrical tape...(is that right?). So if i have this right I have the green, and black i need to deal with. If black is hot (volume pot) and green is ground (have no clue where goes) then what wire goes to the pickup selector switch. Please reply if you know whats up on this subject, I can't stand having my guitar in pieces....Sorry for my ignorance....and thank you in advance for the help.

Classical guitar upgrades?
I got a classical guitar some months ago and i wonder if i can upgrade it in some way. The woods are of good quality and i don't feel of buying a new one. If i made a new nut and saddle would it do anything to the guitar soundwise? What material is best to use when regarding classical guitars?

help putting the peices together
whuts up people.if any of you have read my posts,i stated that i have a ltd goerge lynch model gtr, whith cheap stock pup's.i originaly bought a kent armstrong extrenly high output, and a hot rails.after alot of reading, studying the tone chart ,an l learning how to interpret it,i realized that the armstrong pup is not for me.as it turns out,the screamen demon is where i am going(pretty funny that it comes in the pro model version of my guitar)the thing that i need help in is the wiring setup.i want to be able to split both pups and run them in paralel,if posible.i need to know what and how many switches i need?i only have one volume control and a three way switch.i want to dump these cheapy parts, and get better quality parts.i want to modify the pot's(i'm thinking that a stacked concentrick pot is what i need?)to stop the treble bleed at lower volumes, for both pups.i dont need a tone pot,the natual sound is what i'm going for.so if i could some advice on what switches i need, and if the stacked pot is what i need,or should i go with one volume control?the pups have a big differance in output,so do i need 2 separit volums?you guys have really helped me le3arn alot about wiring, but i'm still green.give me your thoughts and advice.thanx.

Bajabers?
I recently installed a 59 in the neck position to join the 59/CC I have placed in the bridge. Well, I can't get a sound from the neck position, nor the blended position. The bridge position was fine. Normally, if the neck pickup is disconnected, or not placed, the 2nd position blend still works, being the same as position 1. There is a wire that is connected to position 2, which is the blend position, that connects to the volume pot ground. If this is not connected, no sound comes out, regardless of to the number of pickups. Everything appeared to be connected, no wires touching. The only thing is this. When I installed the 59, I had stripped the mesh wire (2 conductor) and soldered part of the bare wire to the ground. Then connected the tip of the bare wire to position 3. Is the mesh wire suppose to be grounded? Or is it just the bare wire? Thanks in advanced.

Lil 59 for Tele question....
Can anyone give me any input on what a Lil 59 for Teles sound like when you split the coils? Is it really even worth doing? I have an American Nashville B Bender Tele and I have already installed the 59 and I have the parts to go ahead and wire it for coil taps. Would you do it? Also the pots I have are both 500k will this affect the tone much?

My Favorite Guitar
Theoide came by today and he installed Phat Cats in my Washburn hollowbody. Man this is truly amazing sounding guitar.
Have you felt that humbuckers don't have the enough character and dynamic? Have you felt singlecoils sound too thin and ice-picky? If so, please try phat cat. Also, if you have hollowbody and want to cover blues to classic rock, you should try phat cat.
