gt;When I open XL I get the error 1004, indicating that it has a problem loading
gt;funcres.xla and the rest of the startup .xla files.
gt;It seems that there is a problem with the VBA module, since the Visual basic
gt;editor is not available and of course no macros or any other custom code can
gt;run.
gt;
gt;Although there seems to be a problem with the entire office system
gt;installation (every time I start word it runs repair before it goes on, for
gt;example) Visual basic editor has been installed and is available in other
gt;parts of Office, like Word or Access.
gt;
gt;I tried to re-apply SP2, but nothing. Then I reinstalled office and applies
gt;SP2 but still nothing.
gt;
gt;What could be the problem?
First, which version?
Did this just start happening, or did it happen just after you applied
SP2? Do you have the same problem before applying SP2?
Is this happening on a PC at work or at home? Are you installing while
logged in as a user with Administrator priviledges? How about when
running Excel?
What are your macro security settings?
I recall a similar problem a few years ago, but I can't find the thread
in Google Groups. The resolution involved editing the Registry. I'm
crossposting to microsoft.public.excel.misc and
microsoft.public.excel.setup, both of which are more appropriate for
Excel-specific questions and have more regular respondents who know
Excel well.
