Hey guys.. Can you tell me if these pickups would work in the mid and neck for my RG 550 ? It's a maple necked guitar and I'm installing a Duncan Distortion Trembucker tommorrow in the bridge.. I've always loved that pickup in everything I put it in, and it has alwasy sounded sweet, with great harmonics, etc.. I want to do stuff like Steve Vai, but blues too and I think it's better than the Evo for this personally.. Not as bright maybe, but I like it that way.. Ok, but I also need the other pups to work with the DD, and be loud enough, split ok, etc, etc..

Something other than a Custom?
I'm looking for suggestions for pickups other than a custom for the bridge position. I've tried JBs and don't like them. They seem to boomy or bassy or something. Not enough definition. I actually love the custom but just wanted to see what other might reccomend. It's going in a mahogany body with maple top American BC Rich Mockingbird. Anything? Anyone?

Music Gear: Utilitarian vs. Inspiration
A recent thread got me thinking (uh oh!).
It seems like some folks think of gear as tools (I used a hammer analogy in the other thread) to get a job done. As long as their rig sounds good enough, plays well enough, and is reliable, they're not going to nitpick the small stuff. There are a lot of professional musicians out there playing off-the-shelf guitars with stock non-vintage Marshall or Fender amps and non-true-bypass FX that can be found at your local Guitarget.

Set me straight
O.k. I went into the local guitar shop to look around during lunch, they had just unpacked an Ibanez 321 (I believe that's the model) fixed bridge mahagony body with bound rosewood fingerboard. Made in Indonesia ??
